I woke up this morning,

Something was wrong,

My happy smile had upped and gone.

Who had stolen it and

Put it on?

I went to the zoo

To find out who.

It wasn’t Mr. Beaver.

It wasn’t Mr. Rooster either.

The Leopard was serious as a leopard can be.

And so was Baby Wallabee

The giraffe was blue.

And the peacock too.

Suddenly,

It dawned on me….

To go check baby chimpanzee.

Where are you, my little dear?

Are you grinning ear to ear?

I knew it. I knew it! All the while

That imp, the chimp,

Was wearing my smile.

I took the smile back,

Put it on,

And now my frown is gone, it’s gone!

The chimp is sad, but I don’t care,

He’ll find another smile somewhere.
