The book take place at Panem city. In Panem there anre 12 districts, they are ruled by a cruel government that dwell at the Capitol. In the past there was a rebellion that the districts started against the capitol, and they wan. In memory of the rebellion, it was determined that every year there would be games called “The Hunger Games”. In those games every district picked one girl and one boy, tributes, by lotter. The chosen ones fought to the death in a cruel arena that was designed by the “gamemakers”. They picked from district 12 a girl named Prim that was Katniss Everdeen’s sister. Katniss Everdeen immediately volunteered instead of her young sister and the boy from her district was Peeta Mellark who has a secret.

they both were shifted, with 22 others boys and girls, to the games for their life.

Who will live and who will die!!!!

I chose to design the cover this way because this image reminds me of one of the important scenes in the book when Katniss took the nightlock berries, the scene that would determine who would live and who would die. The cover shows the act that actually broke the camel’s back. This small act, an act that scorn the president gave the citizens hope and also the possibility to change. That poor girl who did not pose a threat to anyone especially not to the government that did not know her at all, is the one who shows that there is another way, that they should not listen to the government even if they forcing them to listen.

Katniss Everdeen

in the book she is describe as a girl with olive-colored skin, gray eyes and smooth black hair. She known as an excellent shooter with a bow and arrow, this will save her in the games. Although she appears to be brave, Katniss doesn’t believe in herself and doesn’t believe she can survive the games.
She has a responsibility for her family- she needs support her mother and sister after their father died, and she doesn’t care if she is doing it by illegal ways.
Maternal – she is very protective of her young sister. One example for this is when she volunteered instead of her sister and another example is in the games when she takes care of Rue.
Katniss Everdeen changed from the unknown girl from district 12 to the girl that everybody on Panem fall in love with her “The girl on fire”.

Peeta Mellark

He was described in the story as a ‘handsome boy’, he has blonde hair and blue eyes. He is also a sophisticated boy who sees opportunities and takes advantage of them, for example when the tributes from district 1 and 2, that considered as the best at the game, asked him to be an alliance he agreed ad than he took advantage of them. When he felt they were planning to kill him, he ran away. We can also understand that he’s also a very friendly person, he knew how important it was to connect with people in the game and it seemed like it was really easy for people to connect with him, which helped him at the game. He is very responsible and caring boy, in the book Peeta shows his love for Katniss and he’s worried about keeping her alive.

At the game Peeta turns out to be a smart boy who knew how to play the game with a big heart.

President Coriolanus Snow

Is my least favored character. He is the absolute president of Panem. He believes that the end justifies the means- he thinks that by the games and by killing innocent kids he prevents civil war. He remembers the big war, he remembers the distraction and this I way he truly believes in the games.
Like any dictator he “knows” that hope will lead to a rebellion and this is why he hates Katniss. she showed people that there’s hope and that’s scared President Snow. At the end of the book, he kills the “gamemaker” because he didn’t agree with his decisions, because he let, by accident, some hope in. In my opinion Snow is an arrogant person and his arrogance is just to cover his insecurity.

I recommend this book to everyone how likes adventure book. The language, the words are so fluent- you wouldn’t be able to leave this book until the end. All the main characters in the book are teenagers which makes it very easy to relate, girls can relate to Katniss- a really strong young female character and the boys can relate to Peeta. The pace of the book, the events at the arena, the dialogs all of this is makes this book so great. In every page something is happing, there isn’t one boring moment. So if you are looking for a book that speak to us, if you like adventure this book is for you – you won’t regret it, I promise.
