Slovakia

Slovakia is a landlocked country in Central Europe. Is bordered by Poland to the north, Ukraine to the east, Hungary to the south, Austria to the west, and the Czech Republic to the northwest. It lives here over 5.4 million inhabitants. The capital and largest city is Bratislava, and the second-largest city is Košice.

Slovakia is a developed country, with an advanced high-income economy. Slovakia is a member of the European Union and the Eurozone.  It is the world’s largest per-capita car producer.

Etymológia

Slovakia’s name in theory means the „Land of the Slavs“ (Slovensko in Slovak language, stemming from the older form Sloven/Slovienin). As such, it is a cognate of the words Slovenia and Slavonia.
