What is a National Holiday?
A national holiday is a holiday celebrated throughout different countries. In the United States, we celebrate different holidays such as Christmas, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Veterans Day.

Christmas
Christmas is celebrated every year on December 25th and it marks the birth of Christ.
Many people celebrate by decorating with lights, putting up Christmas trees and giving gifts.

Independence Day
Independence Day is also known as The Fourth of July. It honors the nation’s birthday. It is a day of picnics, parades, and fireworks.

Thanksgiving Day
Thanksgiving is a national holiday that celebrates the harvest and other blessings of the past year.
Many families eat turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, and many more great foods.

Veterans Day
Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans.
