Once upon a time there was a girl, just about your age, who really wanted to be a princess. One night her grandma was tucking her into bed. She asked her grandma, “what do I need to do to be a princess?” Her grandma said, “close your eyes and count slowly until 100 and try to picture it.” “Can you help e count until 100?” she asked her grandma. “No I cant my darling. If you want it to work you must count by yourself.” “OK I will try. Goodnight” said Rachel.

She closed her eyes so hard and started to count. 1,2,3….31,32…. Until she got to 100. Then all of a sudden she was floating on a cloud. It was so high up in the sky that she could see the whole world from where she was sitting. It was amazing and so fun. The wind was so gentle and enjoyable. She flew over the whole world. She saw birds and planes and butterflies.

After the ride the cloud tipped her over and she fell out of the sky and landed on a huge bouncy castle. She bounced a few times and then landed softly. She looked around her, she was in the middle of a big garden with lots of roses. Up ahead there was a palace made out of gold and silver. She was amazed. She had to call her friends to come see this, but she had no idea where she was. She was worried now and went looking for someone to ask. She walked towards the palace.

She was standing in front of a tall pink door with a gold bell. She knocked on the door. “Knock, knock, knock.” “Who is it?” She heard a voice from inside. The door opened and a woman dressed in blue and white clothes was standing in front of her. Probably a maid. “Oh here you are, I’ve been looking for you” the maid said. Rachel looked at the maid with a confused face. “How do you know me?” she asked. “Don’t be silly. Stop with your annoying jokes. You need to get inside and shower and get ready for dinner.” She walked into the house. It was beautiful.
In the palace there were shining lights with diamonds on them and big red carpets. Rachel walked after the maid. After walking through to a corridor they got to a door. The maid opened in inside was a big room with loads of clothes. “Probably belongs to the girl who she thinks I am,” Rachel thought. There was a side door that probably leads to a bathroom and a big bed with golden sheets.

“Where I am?” Rachel asked. “What do you mean? You are at home, in your palace that belongs to you,” the maid said. “So this whole giant room with this amazing bed and so many clothes and toys are all mine?” “Yes ofcourse, has been for years. Is everything OK? Are you sick?” the maid asked while touching her forehead to see if she had a temperature.
“Oh my, this is amazing, my dream came true,” Rachel thought in her heart. “Could you please show me around the palace?” she asked. “Of course, anything for you my honour.” There were loads of rooms. Each room for something else.
There was a room full of dresses. All different ones. One was blue with a gold belt. Another was pink with purple flowers on. They were all so beautiful. Rachel tried them all on and did a mini fashion show.

In the next room there were shoes and jewelry. She put on a pair of red high heels that had silver diamonds on them. It was challenging to walk. She had never worn high heels before. She also tried on some earings but most of them she didn’t like. They were too big and heavy.

But something was missing. She had no one to share it with. She had no friends or family. Her like was quite empty now. She barely had any social interaction when she was in the palace. She was very lonely. It was time for dinner. She went to the dining room. There was a big table but her family wasn’t there to sit at the table and it was empty and quiet.

The next day the maid came in gave her breakfast in bed. The maid asked her, “What would you like to do today, my honour?” “I would like to paint” she said. “I’m sorry, you cant. Princesses are not allowed to paint because they will get dirty” “So could I roller-skate please?” said Rachel. “No you cant,” said the maid, “because you might get hurt.” “How about a water fight?” Rachel said. “I wont get hurt or dirty. Only wet.” “And then you would get a cold. Would you like to go through the rooms again, and try on more clothes?” “No I don’t. Being a princess is not fun.”

Rachel was lying in bed. She was so lonely and missed her friends and family. She missed playing in the sand and painting rainbows. She thought about her grandma. “What would she do?” she thought. “She closed her eyes and remembered how she got here. “Maybe that’s how I’ll get back home” she thought. He counted to 100 and all of a sudden she was lying in her own bed in her own house. She ran downstairs and hugged her mother. “I love you so much mummy,” she said. “I love you too my beautiful Rachel.”
