John Felix Anthony Cena born April 23, 1977 is an American professional wrestler, actor, and television presenter. He is currently signed to WWE.

Born and raised in West Newbury, Massachusetts, Cena moved to California in 1998 to pursue a career as a bodybuilder. He transitioned to professional wrestling in 1999 when he debuted for Ultimate Pro Wrestling (UPW). He signed with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) in 2001, where he was initially assigned to Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW). He gained fame in the WWE after adopting the persona of a trash-talking rapper. He won his first singles title, the United States Championship, in 2004. The next year, he won the WWE Championship for the first time, and his character subsequently transitioned into a clean-cut “Superman-like” hero. He then led the company as its franchise player and public face for the next decade.

Cena is a five-time United States Champion, four-time world tag team champion, and a 16-time world champion. He is tied with Ric Flair for the most world championship reigns in WWE history, including 13 with the WWE Championship, a record for the title. He is also a two-time Royal Rumble match winner, a one-time Money in the Bank winner, and has headlined several major WWE pay-per-view events, including their flagship event, WrestleMania, five times.

Cena has been met with mixed critical and fan reception during his career. He has been praised for his character work and promotion skills but criticized for his supposed over-representation and victories over rising stars, which are deemed “burials”. He is thus regarded as one of the most polarizing professional wrestlers of all time.

Cena first starred in The Marine (2006), and gained praise for his performances in Trainwreck (2015), Ferdinand (2017), Blockers, and Bumblebee (both 2018). He starred in F9 and will portray Peacemaker in The Suicide Squad (both 2021), and in an eponymous television series. He also released a rap album called You Can’t See Me (2005), which went platinum. Outside his work in entertainment, Cena is known for his involvement in numerous charitable causes, namely with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, where he has granted the most wishes, at over 650.

John Cena was not always the rich and successful businessman he is today. In fact, John grew up poor, so he appreciates everything he has at the moment. His background also spurs him to get involved in a lot of charitable works, even after the his WWE career.

Cena’s charitable works are not always heavily publicized. When John was in a grocery store in Florida, he spoke with an army veteran and thanked him for his service. He would then secretly pay for the man’s groceries, which totaled around $100. The daughter of the Army veteran would later take to social media and reveal the kind, selfless act. A family member would also put up a picture of her uncle and Cena in the grocery store.

“My dad is a retired Vietnam veteran and a widower. We lost my mom five years ago unexpectedly after they were married almost 50 years. So, as you can imagine, not too much these days make him smile as big as he did in that picture. That’s what so special about this moment. A simple act of kindness brightened his day. Along with his family seeing that smile on his face!”

Cena has also been quite involved in Army charities as well. One of the charities he has supported in the past is the FitOps Foundation, to which he donated $1 million. The FitOps Foundation is a unique charity. It basically trains veterans to be personal trainers, giving them a career and a business at the end of it. During an appearance on The Ellen Show, Cena had the following to say about his involvement.

“The work the FitOps Foundation is doing is having such an impact – they are saving lives by inspiring veterans to find new purpose through fitness, which allows them to then share their mission with others. I am so proud to be a part of this life changing foundation, and to support them in any way I can.”

Cena did not just donate $1 million, he also urged people to donate for a certain period of time to reach a goal. He then promised to match the donations up to a million dollars. Since he donated a million, it means he was able to get an additional million dollars in donations.

John Cena was actually named as the second most charitable athlete in the world in 2015. Portuguese soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo beat him for the prestigious honor, but he did beat the likes of Serena Williams and fellow WWE superstar and UFC legend Ronda Rousey. Since then, he’s continued to top the charitable athlete list.

I love John Cena so much. Im his fan since 2013, that was the year when i started watching WWE and i know him since then. I love how he wrestles and he is arguably the best champion after Ric Flair. He has won the WWE championship 13 times and the WWE world heavyweight championship 3 times which makes him one of the greates champions WWE has ever had. I love how humble he is and how he interact with kids after his matches. I remember when he gave one child the right color t-shirt and the right color hat on Christmast before his match with Elias. Everybody loves Johnnnn Ceeeennaaaaaaaa. He also has an platinum rap album. If he drops album this year he would probably outsell most of the rappers today.
