Padagogy Final Assignment 2021

This year was full of challenges due to the pandemic, but I think that it was a great learning experience. With all the challenges that were in our way, we learned many things that we wouldn’t have learned unless the pandemic. We learned some tools to how to teach remotely and how to adjust quickly according to the situation. This year benefited me a lot as a teacher to be by preparing me for anything if it is a pandemic or a war.

My Favorite Lecture  

Looking back to what I learned, I found the writing lecture very helpful. Each one of the students presented a unique method to teach writing. I thought that it was an interesting way to learn how to teach writing as it is a skill that most pupils find challenging. Moreover, it was one the most interactive lesson that we had as each one of us presented a writing game.

A Useful Lesson

One of the lessons that I found useful in the school was when we learned how to teach reading comprehension by planning a pre, while, and post-reading activities. In this lesson, we wrote a lesson plan on how to teach a text. It helped me understand the importance of asking questions during reading and how each activity needed to be connected to the main subject.

What I Wanted to Learn  

I wanted to learn how to deal with different levels in the class and how to include the lower level in the lesson. We did talk briefly about it during one of the lessons, but we haven’t learned it completely. In my opinion, this is one of the challenges that we will see in each classroom that we will teach. I think that it could be effective to study how to manipulate all the different levels in the classroom.

Tips that I Learned

During the year, I received many tips on how to improve my teaching by seeing different teaching styles. I learned a lot from each one of my peers’ research and presentation of the article.  Each one taught me something new if it is to include comics or even technology. I know that I gained a lot from my research of how comic can contribute a lot to the understanding of the literary element. I used this method in one of my lessons and I saw how the pupils loved the idea of writing their own sentences according to the pictures. In addition, there was another lecture on the importance of technology during an online lesson. There we were provided with some sites and ideas of how to teach remotely.

Student Teaching

At the beginning of the year, I was terrified to enter the classroom as a teacher as I felt unqualified to do so. I remember how scared I was on my first day and I wasn’t confident enough to stand in front of the pupils, but as I learn more tools in pedagogy, I gained more confidence in my teaching skills. This curse helped me a lot to shape myself into the teacher I inspire to be one day.
