Hi! I’m a water droplet! Today I’m going to show you my routine! Today I started off in the ocean. Usually it takes a long time for water (liquid) to evaporate when it’s in the ocean, so I was there until lunchtime! Eventually though, the sun got really bright and hot and heat energy reached me. I evaporated and turned into water vapor (gas)!

Water vapor (gas) is like mist, or fog. So when you feel mist, it’s actually a bunch of tiny little water droplets. I was water vapor for a while, but eventually there were enough droplets in the sky and we all huddled together, or condensed! That’s how water droplets like me turn into a cloud. We floated around together in a group for a while but eventually, we got really heavy from a lot of water droplets and gravity started pulling us down, right over the dirt. Which basically means, we started raining! Rain (also snow, hail, etc.) is also known as something called precipitation.

Once we soaked into the soil on the ground, we started trying to make our way through the dirt to a nearby lake. Right now, we’re something called groundwater. We tried for a while to reach the lake, and eventually we made it! After a little while of being in the lake, we decided to go on the move again. We moved into the river that was connected to the lake and started moving downstream. We traveled through the river until we made it to the waterfall!

A waterfall is also known as something called runoff. That’s when water is moving off one surface and onto another. We flowed off this waterfall and back into the ocean. This time I evaporated much quicker than before. After getting into another cloud group and moving a while, it was time to rain once again. This time it was over a glacier! Gravity pulled me down onto it and I froze into ice (solid)!

I stayed on the glacier until the next day. Then, the sun melted me again and I continued my routine. It was such a fun experience! I’m so glad this is my life. I saw all kinds of crazy things and I’m glad you were there with me. Thank you!
