The Story Through The Water Cycle

 Hello, I am Mary the water molecule and this is my experience through the water cycle. Being in the water cycle means I travel through a lot of places, do new things, and do my work in the cycle. First I started off in a big glacier. There were so many other molecules that looked just like me. Most of the time it was very cold in the glacier.   

Most of the time I feel like I’m freezing. Then one day It wasn’t cold and I wasn’t freezing, it was warm. Warm from the sun and its heated energy on my glacier. I started to melt off of the glacier and so did many other molecules and landed into a small stream of water. 

I really liked the water since it was at the best temperature and not only did I see the water molecules I see everyday but I saw small fish, medium sized fish, and large fish with all different colors on them. I really enjoyed being here and the gravity was pulling me down the stream just like every other molecule. 

All of the sudden the sun’s warms energy was on the water and I started to rise from the water I went up very high with all my other molecule friends. What I was experiencing was evaporation. I was up in the sky and in the clouds. I could tell a storm was forming up here, up in the clouds was so different from when I was on the ground. I could see everything from up here the buildings, trees, other big clouds and all of the sudden I started to fall from the sky from this big dark cloud really fast and experience precipitation, and condensation.

As I was falling back to earth I landed on a sandy beach and  thousands of other different rocks beside me. I stayed here on the land for quite some time it felt like, as I watched the other water molecules get slammed into the rocks, until I was going under the ground, this part of the water cycle I was getting into is called groundwater.

I stayed as a groundwater for a good amount of time and it wasn’t the most exiting thing I have experienced as being apart of the water cycle but after the groundwater stage the best part is transporting into a different water area, sometimes its the same lakes, streams, oceans that I end up getting transported into again but usually its a different part of lakes, streams, etc.  with different molecules that I have never seen before and I get introduced to.

Now I am back to where I was, starting fresh and new. Staying in this big area with a bunch of other molecules, the sky going from sunny and bright to grey and dark again which means that there is another storm coming, which means me and my molecule friends would rise to the clouds in the sky and experience evaporation like before, and fall back down to earth. So that is my story of being in the water cycle, its a lot of fun but yet scary to be apart of, and a great experience.
