Introduction
This book is designed to teach Kindergarten students about basic two-dimensional shapes. Knowing shapes is fundamental to students’ learning so it is important to have a solid foundation.
Lesson Objectives
Identify and describe properties of 2D shapes.
3
Triangle
A triangle is a shape containing three sides.
The three sides of a triangle connect to form three corners.
4

Circle
A circle is a round shape made up of a curved line that is equal distance from the center of the circle.
A circle has no sides or edges.

Discussion Questions
How many sides does each shape have?
How many corners does each shape have?
Follow-up Activity
Students will be given a scavenger hunt. In this, they will be asked to search for objects in their everyday lives that represent each shape. They will also be challenged to find the 3D version of the 2D shapes we learned.
