Are you wondering how to do well in calculus? Calculus is considered one of the most complex subjects by students all around the world. Follow the tips below to become the best student in calculus.

To succeed in calculus, you need to understand many basic concepts. You also need to develop strong study skills and good study habits to become better in calculus.

Here are pieces of useful advice to help you do well in calculus:

Prepare Yourself Early

Calculus is a culmination of foundational habits you develop from the time you begin your studies. That means that you cannot get up one day and say you want to become better in calculus. Besides tackling calculus equations requires a lot of practice.

If you intend to take calculus, be it in high school or college, you need to schedule yourself for building block classes. Inform your instructor that you want to take calculus and schedule building block classes early. This means starting with basic preliminary classes of Algebra, Trigonometry, and Geometry.

Become Better in Algebra

The basics of algebra are taught in grades seven and eight or earlier grades. If you intend to take calculus, you need to master the basics of algebra as earlier as possible. As a general rule of thumb, you need to get really better in these classes as that will help to position yourself on the path of becoming better in calculus.

Granted math is a subject built on the calmination of concepts from one class to the next. If you cannot grasp the basics of algebra, then chances are that you will struggle to succeed in calculus.

Some of the areas you need to master if you intend to take calculus in the future include powers and roots, manipulation of equations, quadratic equations, and more.

Try to Become Better in Trigonometry

Trigonometry comes immediately before calculus. Most of the topics covered in trigonometry have a closer connection with those taught in calculus. For instance, trigonometry functions are used to describe emotion while calculus is based on measuring rates of change. This makes trigonometry a potential building block for calculus.

When studying trigonometry ensure you put more effort to understand the topics below:

  • Substitute functions;
  • Basic trigonometry functions;
  • Inverse trigonometry functions.

Get Familiar With Exponents and Algorithms

Exponents and algorithms are useful for manipulating equations and functions in calculus. You will come across these topics in trigonometry and algebra. The two are reverse operations of each other and are applicable in many areas in calculus. You really need to get better at these topics. Review them several times until you become comfortable with them.

Attend All Classes

Calculus is the most time-intensive and complicated subject. Trying to learn it on your own won’t help you succeed. When you attend all classes and tutorial sessions, you will learn a lot of tips and hints for solving calculus problems.

There is no shortcut to getting better in calculus. You really have to commit yourself, spend more time, and practice a lot to become better in calculus.
