African savannas are far more interesting than they seem. There are too many plants to count, an out of control climate, and the largest animals alive. The plants are a large part of the Grasslands

The plants are important because they feed the animals. One of the plant out of hundreds is the buffalo grass,it grows lavender colored in Autumn and brown in winter, the patches are 6-12 feet wide and 2-5 in. tall. Senegal gum acacia is another Grassland plant, it grows 66 feet tall with tall green leaves and can also withstand droughts. The climate of a Grassland may not seem extreme, but it is.

The most serious weather in my opinion is a drought. A drought can cause extremely dry weather, and in extremely dry conditions a thunderstorm may occur. During a thunderstorm a tree might be struck causing a wildfire. Also, a drought causes animals to look for water, and if it’s too long might kill some of them from thirst. The animals are almost as extreme as the climate.

The animals are some of the largest in the world. The Giraffe are very impressive, but without special blood vessels they would faint if they moved their head to the ground because all that blood pressure would gather in their head. The special blood vessels in their heads allow them to lean their head to the ground without fainting. The African elephant is huge and has long tusks for fending off predators. Pampa Deer also live in grasslands they just look like you’re every day white tailed deer just a little bit smaller. The grasslands are more interesting than they seemed.

There is still multiple new facts to learn about the Grasslands.
Even more about plants, climate, and animals that live there.Who knows maybe you’ll even learn more then me.
