1. Use addition and subtraction within 20 to solve one step word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and/or comparing, with unknowns in all positions.
Students will correctly solve addition problems within 20 to solve one step world problems with 80% accuracy.
To Educators-
This book is a great source to use when you want to start to add word problems to addition and subtraction within 20. In this unit we will look at addition and subtraction in word problems. We will look at common words that mean to add and common words that mean to subtract. Learning should be fun and this books makes learning addition and subtraction fun.

I have 2 green apples and 3 red apples. If I put them all together how many do I have? Lets’s try this together.
1st you will click on the link below.
2nd you will put two yellow counters all the at the top.
3rd you will put three red counters at the bottom.

I have 15 pieces of candy and Nina has 3 pieces of candy. How many pieces of candy do we have all together.

Let’s Practice!
I made 8 brownies. My friend ate 5 brownies. How many brownies do I have left.
To solve…
On a separate piece of paper draw 8 circles. The 8 brownies comes from the 8 brownies I made.
Next cross out five of the circles you drew. The crossing out of the 5 circles is because of the 5 brownies my friend ate.
Now count how many circles there are that are not crossed out.

Fun with Dice!
Click the link below and roll the dice. Once you roll the dice draw circles on the piece of paper like we did with the counters above.
Example-
If i roll the two dice and get a 5 and a 3.
I will draw five circles on a piece of paper on the top and draw three on the bottom and then count how many I have.
Write the equations down on a piece of paper.
