Once upon a time, there was a king who was very kind and generous. People in his kingdom were very happy and prosperous.

Often he would disguise himself and go among people to know the state of affairs first-hand.

He felt very happy that all the people in his kingdom were leading a happy life. They had all they needed to live happily.

Once he decided to go to a distant village to check out the state of people living there. He got there disguised as a fruit seller.

As he reached the village market, he found a crowd of people: a few of the royal guards were also there.

They were holding a poor looking young man. He had been handcuffed. The king also edged closer to the crowd.

From a man standing there he asked, “What was happening here? why is the young man in chains?”  “He was caught red handed stealing fruit from the kings garden!”, replied the man, “He is being taken to the kings court for punishment”.

Hearing this, the king rushed to the guards and said “I your king order to the free the young man immediately”. With this he took off his false beard and ordinary clothes.

The people were wonderstruck! he further ordered his guards, “give this young man 12 baskets full of different fruits. No one should feel the temptation of stealing”.
