Johnny is Brave. In the book The Outsiders Johnny states “I said I don’t want to see her. She’s probably here to tell me about how much trouble I’m causing her and about how glad her and her old man ill be when I’m dead”. After all these years dealing with his Mom he finally stands up to her this shows Johnny is super brave in how he finally got the courage to stand up to his Mom.
This is also proven when Pony boy states “I was trembling, and it wasn’t all from the cold. But Johnny, except for the fact that his hands were twitching, looked as calm as Dally ever had”. Dally is always calm and brave so by Pony boy comparing Johnny to Dally in this moment of time when Johnny was still in shock about killing Bob, shows how brave Johnny must have been.

Johnny is loved. This is proven when Pony Boy tells Johnny “you’ll be okay you got to be. We couldn’t get along without you.” Pony Boy knows how much the whole gang loves Johnny and knows as he states in the text that they can’t go on without him.
Another quote to prove how much the gang really loved Johnny was when Pony Boy said “Johnny was the only thing Dally loved. And now Johnny was gone”. This is another way that it is shown that Johnny was loved. Johnny might not have been loved by his Mom but he sure was loved by the whole gang.

Johnny is also very caring in the book. When he knew he was dying he told Pony Boy “Stay gold, Ponyboy. Stay Gold…” This shows how caring and thoughtful he really is. He knows he’s going to die soon but he is still worrying about Pony boys future even though he knows his future is over.
He was also caring when he killed Bob. He said, “I had to they were drowning you Pony. They might have killed you”. He knows that he could go to jail and he also knows that jail is not nice to greasers like him. But he still does it for Ponyboy he is so caring that he threw away his whole life just so Ponyboy could keep his.

These are all the ways that Johnny has proven to be Brave, Caring, And loved. He was brave after he killed Bob and when he told the nurse he didn’t want to see his Mom. He was caring when he told Ponyboy to stay gold and when he gave up his future so Ponyboy could have one. All these reasons are why he is so loved by the whole gang and is why the gang could not go on without Johnny especially not Dally.
