Short story

It’s 3:00 AM. only one more hour till the end of school, till the end of math. Alie hates math. she knows she is laking a significant amount of sleep to be doing math when the  scribbles she drew became blurry and its becoming harder and harder to pretend she is listening and easier to get lost in thoughts of her drawings of lost fantasy islands floating between the clouds, with creatures so magical till eventually she drifters into a vary needed sleep.

She wakes up from a strong chilly wind and slowly comes to the realization that she is not in school anymore, she gets up, still sleepy but gets snapped right out of it when she realizes she is 5000 meters above earth. she gasps then says: “jees, definitely not class” initially  she was slightly concerned considering a moment ago she was in class and now she is on a floating island,witch to here knowledge didn’t exist seconds ago,and while the chilly breez from before became pleasant, Alie started to get a uneasy feeling that she has been here already and that she is a little lost.

but after looking around and processing it all she comes to the conclusion that this island is pretty cool. nauseous but fascinated, she walks into a forest nearby, probably the prettiest forest she has seen yet, without noticing three human looking creatures following her. while trying to engrave it all in detail in her memory, she spots a pair of mesmerizing eyes staring right at her. behind the big eyes she sees two pointy ears and a fluffy tail, so being the cat lover she is, she couldn’t resist but calling it over here. “pspspspsps” it appears to her that the “cat” is not quite a cat when the little guy flies over to here. well, it is a cat, just with blue fur and wings.. regardless cat or not he is cute, so she pets him anyways.

 She continues trekking in the forest with her new fluffy companion,and while the chilly breez from before became pleasant, Alie started to get a uneasy feeling that she has been here already and that she is a little lost.

her anxiety starts to spike and she’s now basically running without direction trying to find a clear path or something, anything that would calm her down.

and as if all of this wasn’t enough, three men corner her to a tree, the cat notices the men and runs away, see’s surrounded and alone.

“You don’t belong here ” one of the men said in a low raspy voice. Another one says, in an even raspier voice “we saw you pop up out of nowhere, we know you are not from here, and we know from past experiences that creatures like you are up to no good.” “i, i don’t even know how i got here, i dont know what you are talking about.” she says, her voice shaking. “stop making excuses, go back to wherever you came from, otherwise will have to deal with you ourselves” “You think I’m not big“Please, don’t be irrational, I’m telling you the truth, if i knew how to leave i would ” she says, not sure if its the truth.

we gave you your chance, now we gotta take matters into our own hands.” The men come closer raising their weapons high, and Alie cries for help, hands over her head, feeling more helpless than ever.

Then, a figure jumps out between the trees right before alie who was too shocked to react. “What are you doing to this girl?” he asks them with a surprisingly confident voice considering his sword is snapped in half. “You’re better off letting us deal with this ourselves..” the men say to the figure looking down at him, figuratively and literally. The figure was about half the size of the men. The top of his body was human but from the waist down he was a goat, like a satyr, but one thing about him was different, his skin was red. enough to handle you guys? well think again!” he says,leaping at them without missing a beat. The satyr was small, but surprisingly quick, and after a little bit of resling the men leave, their tail between their legs.

hehey, another mission, done successfully.” Alie looks at him in aw then says “ that was awesome!!” please, that was just a Tuesday for me..” “No, that was truly amazing, but kinda strange, where did you come from? and why? and why are you red?” 

ignoring the last question, he sais “i just herd noises and figured i should help, next thing i know im fighting forest creatures” thats kinda irrational, and a little stupid, but thanks” “ im glad to help, miss…”

 “o, Alie” “what an unusual name, human right?” “what, you know about humans?” “Of course I do, everyone has heard about you, a bunch of weirdos” 

“hey! well i suppose we are but still “” by the way, my name is pan” 

” like the Greek god??” “ what no, like my grandfather” “how did you come here from down there? Do you know how to get back?”

 “actually i’m pretty lost, as a matter of fact i have no idea how i got here” 

“So I should probably take you to a safe place, make sure you don’t run into any other guys like those” “ya that would be great” alie said, and they both go, pan accompanying Alie through the woods to a safe tree house.

In the tree house he introduces Alie to his friends.

“Alie, these are my friends, mery ann and lizzie ” pan says, jestering at them. “what a pleasant surprise, a human” “wow, everyone really does know about humans here” alie says,then stares at them, confused “merry ann is a mermaid, and lizzie is a fairy” pan says, seeing the confusion on allies face. Alie stairs at them for a little while’ specifically at the mermaid’s legs and the fairies height. “Are you sure she’s a mermaid??” “last time i checkedmermaids have tails and live in water, not in the middle of a forest” the mermaid replies, sarcastically “i guess you know better then me..”

“And why is the fairy so  huge, I can’t even see her face” immediately after she says that, the fairy bends down to show her face, smiling and waving at Alie, her hand the size of Alie herself. “ anyways” pan says, not enjoying the conversation very much “ i think Alie could use some rest, she’s had a long day” “ok then, it was nice meeting you” alie, still trying to process all she has just seen, smiles and waves as the mermaid and the fairy walk away. “if you want you could rest on my tree for a little while, then we could try and find a way for you to get back home”Alie gives Pan a uncertain look and he ads “not to brag but i happen to have the most comfortable tree on the island” “o i dont know, i don’t want to impose and to say the truth, as much as i love climbing on trees, i don’t know how comfortable it is to sleep on one…” “you mean you have never slept on a tree before?? what do you humans sleep on?” “Nevermind, it’s complicated..” 

“Well I bet it’s not half as comfortable as my tree, ” Pan says, sounding a little offended. ” all right then, i suppose i could use a little rest and there’s a first time for everything..” They walked together for about a minute when Alie saw t. a massive tree, so green it’s almost unnatural, at the edge of the island, with a clear view of the earth beneath them. “Wow” Alie says the sheer beauty of it all leaves her speechless. “what did i tell you, best. tree. ever.” There is a moment of silence when Pan says “well, you are welcome to make yourself comfortable and in the meantime i can finish my work for the day, then afterwards we can do whatever you would like”Alie climbs up the tree, settles down comfortably and admires the view, and  lets her thoughts go loose as she tries to fall asleep. The view from the tree down to earth is as incredible as pan said and while looking down she thinks about her two best friends from school and her little brother back home.

 the blue cat jumps on here lap and though she is startled for a second, she pets it and lets here thoughts wander again, this time she thinks about here cat back home, she really misses him, she misses everyone back home, even if she feels sometimes like she just wants to escape into here fantasies. In the end her loved ones know her and she knows them, but here she knows nothing. even what’s supposed to be common knowledge is different and messed up and tho everyone up there is vary nice and understanding towards her, she knows she doesn’t belong there, she belongs down on earth, with all that is down there, good or bad, and thru mal here confusion, both on the island and on earth, one thing is crystal clear. She wants to go home. her eyelids become heavy and she lets them fall down as she falls to a deep  sleep.

she  wakes up to an annoying high pitch bell that seems disturbingly familiar. then it hits her. She opens her eyes to see a class full of students packing their bags without even bothering to keep it organized, desperate to leave as soon as possible. She is back in school. She sees her drawings of her fantasy island on her desk, pisces them up and taking them in for the last time, she crumples them up into balls and throws them out.
