It was a sunny day in Barcelona, when I and several friends rented the car at the airport we didn’t know what awaited us in the next two days.
We started our way north towards the Pyrenees mountains, to the Parc Nacional d’Aigüestortes Reserve on the Spain-France border. On the way the weather started to cool and the landscapes became more and more mountainous and snowy.
When we arrived in the town of Espot, at the foot of the alpine reserve, we approached the tourist information center to better plan the next two days. When we told the person in charge of the center about our plans to take a jeep-taxi up the mountain, he looked at us with a surprised look, and after a few seconds asked: “You know there was a blizzard there yesterday?”
We were surprised, “How can you travel in such a condition?” We asked him, he replied that it was possible but dangerous and that we should not plan too long a route, after a short inquiry between us we decided to climb the mountain.
We went to the center of the picturesque town and took the taxi north. We drove on a beautiful mountain road and got off the car to the shore of an amazing lake.

We started walking towards the nearest cabin, at first it wasn’t evident that it had snowed much yesterday but as we progressed we discovered frozen lakes and snow up to a meter high.
As you can see in the next picture (I’m five cm taller then this girl)

We continued our slow march and arrived towards sunset at the warm cabin up the mountain.
There they were surprised to receive us, as we were the only tourists traveling that day, but nevertheless they hosted us nicely and served us a huge dinner with a variety of delicious foods.

The next day we left early in the morning back towards the town and our car.
The return was very enjoyable and we returned with a calm ride to the city.
The End
