IDIOMS :
To learn by heart: to learn something in such a way that you can say it from memory.
It is used in cases where certain documents, rules, poems, excerpts from books, instructions, and so on should be known from memory.
To pour one’s heart out: to speak very freely to someone about one’s private and most deeply felt emotions.
It is used in cases where it is necessary to express one’s feelings and emotions, usually among close people.
A heavy heart: a great deal of sadness.
It is used in cases when something bad happens to a person, or many problems arise around a person that do not necessarily concern him, but cause him difficulties and worries.
From the bottom of his heart: in a very sincere way.
It is used in cases where a person feels absolute joy for someone and wants to express his thoughts, wishes (for example, on holidays), hopes in the most open and kind tones. This is how a person shows that his words come from the most secret place – from the heart.
To break one’s heart: to make someone who loves you very sad, usually by telling that person you have stopped loving them.
Usually used in a romantic context (although sometimes used in any informal conversation among familiar people). The idiom means that a person’s vulnerable heart cannot withstand the bitterness of problem and loss.
The heart wants what it wants: when you want something for emotional reasons, such as when you are romantically or attracted to someone, then no amount of logic or reason can dissuade you.
It is often used in literary works and songs, but can also be heard in spoken language. The idiom has a long history – it was originally a title from a letter by Emily Dickinson. It means that everything that happens between people does not obey logic and people crave it, even if it will destroy their lives.

Never in her life would she imagine finding herself in such an awful situation. But here she is: heartbroken and betrayed.

Kate and John met at the festival and hit it off immediately.
It was love at first sight – Kate fell head over heels. She’d learn by heart everything John was interested in – physics, poetry, technology. But love in paradise wasn’t meant to be forever and one day everything changed.

She couldn’t believe her eyes at first but obviously it was John. Her boyfriend was at the table kissing another woman. She couldn’t help crying her eyes out. The second she was at home, she called her best friend and poured her heart out.
