In this picture, we can see a man giving his jacket to a homeless person who is sitting on the street. The man is wearing a suit, which can suggest that he is well-off and has a professional job. The homeless person is wearing ragged clothes. The man is bending down as he hands over his jacket to the homeless person, who looks very grateful. This picture reflects a self-denying deed because the man is giving up something that he owns and values to someone who needs it more. He is also showing kindness and compassion to a stranger who is less fortunate than him.

This picture shows a man holding an umbrella for an elderly woman who is walking with a cane. This picture is an example of a self-denying deed, as the man is sacrificing his own comfort and convenience to protect the elderly woman from the rain. In addition, he is showing respect and compassion for someone who is more vulnerable than him.
“One self-denying deed, one word that eased the heart of him who heard”
We have chosen these pictures because we believe that they reflect the quote “One self-denying deed, one word that eased the heart of him who heard”. The man with the umbrella may have eased the elderly woman’s heart by making her feel cared for, and the man with the jacket may have eased the heart of the homeless person by making him feel warmer. Both pictures show us people who are doing selfless and compassionate acts for others who are in need of help or support. To conclude, if we all followed the example of these people and practiced kindness every day, we would make the world a better place for everyone.

In the picture, we can see someone’s shadow sitting on a bench and looking at the floor. There is a strong light next to him, but he still focuses on the darkness and loneliness. We can’t see his face but it’s clear that he’s disappointed or upset about something. Moreover, when we saw the image, we thought this man was disturbed by his negative thoughts and he couldn’t let them go. Also, the dark colors in the picture made the vibe mysterious and depressing.

This picture presents a woman sitting by herself and looking at the sunset. Most of the time, people conclude their day when it is over like this woman who decided to sit in the evening. Sunsets can often make people think and reflect on themselves. She doesn’t look so satisfying or peaceful with her introspection. In addition, we saw her as frustrated or even upset about something.
“No act most small That helped some soul and nothing cost — Then count that day as worse than lost”
We chose these pictures to symbolize the meaning in the second stanza, when the poet said, “No act most small That helped some soul and nothing cost — Then count that day as worse than lost.”. Both pictures show us people who are lonely, sitting and focusing on their feelings and thoughts. They both look disappointed or upset and really busy with their minds. We thought they were processing their day or lifetime to understand what they did at this time. Most people want to know they used their time doing important, meaningful, and positive things, just like the poem’s message.
