Introduction

Welcome to learning the American Sign Language alphabet! Did you know about 2 to 3 out of 1,000 children in the United States are born with a detectable level of hearing loss? It may not seem like a lot but I find learning ASL can be useful throughout time. I think the students will enjoy learning how to sign their name in sign language, what 1st grader wouldn’t?

Learning Objectives

1. Students will understand their fingers spell words

2. Learn how to sign own name and the word “hello”

3. Students will know what ASL stands for
