After WW1 had just ended, people were ready to celebrate and move from the war, leading to the 1920s, the age of change and rebirth. The 1920’s was often recalled as the Roaring Twenties or Jazz Age.

A national culture decided to develop after the war. In the 1920’s a new era was born as the New Negro Movement aka. the Harlem Renaissance. The Harlem Renaissance enabled talented artists and musicians to emerge, which resulted in an artistic explosion. Harlem quickly became known as the cultural center in the 1920’s.

One of the most recognized musicians to have emerged from the Harlem Renaissance is Louis Daniel Armstrong. Louis Armstrong was a Jazz musician born on August 1, 1901 in Orleans Louisiana. Ever since he was a child he had a natural born talent in music.

Major developments started to occur in the arts during the 1920’s. Jazz and the blues became very popular and Louis Armstrong played a significant part in its popularity. The style of music was so significantly influenced by Armstrong, that he made his own style of music called scatting.
