As I Grew Older

By : Langston Hughes

3

It was a long time ago.
I have almost forgotten my dream.
But it was there then,
In front of me,
Bright like a sun—
My dream.
And then the wall rose,
Rose slowly,
Slowly,
Between me and my dream.
Rose until it touched the sky—
The wall.
Shadow.
I am black.
I lie down in the shadow.
No longer the light of my dream before me,
Above me.
Only the thick wall.
Only the shadow.
My hands!
My dark hands!
Break through the wall!
Find my dream!
Help me to shatter this darkness,
To smash this night,
To break this shadow
Into a thousand lights of sun,
Into a thousand whirling dreams
Of sun!

Mr.Langston Hughes , I read your poem ” As I Grew Older ” , I liked the way how you sent to the people
how the niggros life is and how the rasicm control it and the most important thing is how to break this rule and
to open the door on a new world and I mean the freedom .

I liked your style , and I learned from you that the impoosibble is posibble if we work hard for achieve
anything we want .

Without any doubt  the moral of the poem didn’t applies only on rasicm .

We should work with all our might to overcoming obstacles and to achieve everything we want .

My first dream was to be apilot .

Actually , I wish to say that I have work hard in order to achieve my dream , but honestly it’s really hard
to achieve it on my country , it even impossible to achieve it , the reasons for this return to my country and
my community that both aren’t supporting it , but of course we should not give up and if the circumstances didn’t allow to achieve this dream I can achieve another .

to be a doctor also was one of my dreams , and I’m now working hard to make this dream come true , I know that

no thing come free because of this I have to work well in order to achieve all I want , and in the end of my way I’m sure that

I will not repent , and I will be so happy when I achieve what I want , and when I saw that all I wish became

reality .
