History
It was erected in 1671 on the orders of Captain General of the Kingdom of Sicily Claude Lamoral, prince of Ligne (Belgium) during the Spanish domination of Sicily, on the rocks that form the continuation of the close of the ancient city of land, formerly called Stone Palace. It was built to defend the city from the incursions of the Barbary pirates. In 1806 it was made feasible the passage that connected it with the land. Until 1861 the guns were installed on the roof. During World War II it was used by the Navy as anti-aircraft.

Built and designed by Carlos De Grunembergh. The quadrangular tower, which narrows towards the top, it was equipped with four sensor boxes in masonry and formerly provided with lanterns. It was restored in 1979.
Was established in 1983 within the pre-history museum, now called Town Museum Tower of Ligny, with the ground floor and a prehistoric marine archaeological room. The Tower of Ligny is now proposed to visitors in his elegant robe of deputation tower, completely restored inside.
