the pufture of dorian gray

Dorian Gray is the subject of a full-length portrait in oil by Basil Hallward, an artist who is impressed and infatuated by Dorian’s beauty; he believes that Dorian’s beauty is responsible for the new mode in his art as a painter. Through Basil, Dorian meets Lord Henry Wotton, and he soon is enthralled by the aristocrat’s hedonistic worldview: that beauty and sensual fulfilment are the only things worth pursuing in life.

Newly understanding that his beauty will fade, Dorian expresses the desire to sell his soul, to ensure that the picture, rather than he, will age and fade. The wish is granted, and Dorian pursues a libertine life of varied and amoral experiences, while staying young and beautiful; all the while his portrait ages and records every sin.^[5]

1.sybil vane The young actress was a friend of Dorin Gray, Dana loved him very much but Dorian broke her heart and said goodbye to her and that’s why she committed suicide

2.basil hahhward was Dorian’s best friend, basil was an artist he liked very much to paint and especially Dorian. basil always wanted to help him and that Dorian would be a good man but because of the picture he painted, Dorian murdered him.

3.james vane was sybil brother and he wanted to take revenge on Dorian because his sister also had to commit suicide, but in the end he died in the accident, and this caused Dorian to whisper about what he had done.

4.Lord Henry was a friend of Dorian and Basil. He taught Dorian a lot about life and some of it was bad things that made Dorian start to change and become a bad man.

Dorian’s personality

6.Dorien’s personality changed a lot during his life. Before the picture he painted in Basil Dorin was a beautiful young man who would do good things and would do no harm to anyone, but after the picture Dorin turned to an old and not beautiful man who does bad things and harms people.

7.The picture is the mirror of the soul because before the change of Dorian picture was of a young man and beautiful because did not do something is not good but after the change of Dorian picture was of someone old and not beautiful because Dorian did things are not good.

8.When I read the book I hooked up to it, I had fun reading it because it was very interesting and I recommend everyone read the book
