About Myself

My name is Vincenzo Cuturi and I’ve lived in Nigeria for about a year now and I am really enjoying it. I lived in Austria before were everyone and every school is in German. I live here with my Mum and my three siblings ( you heard me, three! It’s never quiet at home…). My Dad  lives in Austria because he has a project were he is building a Shopping-Mall/Hotel. I miss him a lot, luckily he comes almost every long holiday we get. My siblings names are: Maurizio, Carolina and Elisabetta, I love them a lot ( even tough we fight a lot).

My year Six experience

My year six experience has been amazing, even tough it was the first time for me to speak/work/write in English. There were a lot of hard classes that were hard for me, but especially Literacy. That was because I had to learn the most there, grammar, spellings and punctuation(but thanks to my teacher Mrs.Dosunmu I fell much more comfortable in literacy after a while). But it didn’t take to long to realize that Literacy was the most fun class of them all. Soon, I discovered that I enjoy writing stories a lot, it is fun just letting your creativity out in form of a story! A few of my favorite subjects are: Art, Pe , Swimming , Literacy and Numeracy.

I’ve always loved to swim, that’s why it is one of my favorite subjects (in Austria I used to be part of an Swimming-Team outside of school (but back to the topic). To be honest I felt like the year was over very fast (it was maybe even the most fun year of school I’ve ever had! It really has been an awesome year of school, I wouldn’t even call it an year of school, but more of an “Adventure”

Some events during the year

There where a lot of fun events during the year (such as): Sports day, Swimming Gala, Crazy-Socks-And-Hair-Day, Chocolate-Friendship-Day, Numeracy-And-Science-Week, Literacy-Week, The trip to the Bread  Launch and al whole lot more! All of the events were fun but my personal favorite was the Swimming Gala. The Swimming Gala was my favorite because as already stated: I love, love swimming (did I mention I was once in a team?), I learned to swim at the age of four (my Grand-Mother has a house right next to a lake, every summer we would go there and swim). ( Back to the topic) At the Gala I only had one swim in which I scored a silver medal, I tried my best to go for the gold, but sadly I didn’t make it… But to be honest it was better getting silver that gold, because that gave me the push to work even harder for next year!

Friends

I fell like year six is an hard but fun adventure that is one year long, where you learn new things and find new friends. I’m happy that I mentioned that: “Friends”, friends where something that were quite hard to make ( at the beginning at least). At the beginning, I wasn’t sure if people would like me because I couldn’t speak the language properly ( it took me about a month to fell like I was actually a part of them). luckily, there was a boy ( whos name was Joshua) came to speak with me, asking me questions like: Where do you come from?; What’s your name?; Do you enjoy C.I.S so far? and other related question like that. He was the person who made me a tiny little bit more comfortable and less shy. After that came Veer and Adebare (Those tree are still some of my best friends till today).

What I love about C.I.S.

I had many places and people that made my experience in C.I.S. (Year Six) so lovely! People that were friendly to me (such as: Adebare, Veer, Joshua and many more!), places that I felt were amazing (like the ART room or the Swimming Pool)! Of course, people and places weren’t the only things that made the experience how it was, subjects and the school system played a big role! As stated, I love Literacy, Swimming and Art! But as I already said, I like the school System! What I mean by that is that I loved that we had after school activities (clubs)! There were many different clubs (such as): Science, Fencing, I had many places and people that made my experience in C.I.S. (Year Six) so lovely!

People that were friendly to me (such as: Adebare, Veer, Joshua and many more!), places that I felt were amazing (like the ART room or the Swimming Pool)! Of course, people and places weren’t the only things that made the experience how it was, subjects and the school system played a big role! As stated, I love Literacy, Swimming and Art! But as I already said, I like the school System! What I mean by that is that I loved that we had after school activities (clubs)! There were many different clubs (such as): Science, Fencing, Basketball and many more! I have joined and left many clubs sins the beginning of year six! My favorite clubs so far are: Cartooning + Animating and Creative writing!

Birth-Days

In C.I.S., when somebody has a birthday we celebrate it with cake in the class! Unfortunately, I only have two pictures of two birthday Parties! One of Ali and one of Ife! They are both good friends of mine! When you have a birthday there are two rules, you are allowed to wear muftis (home close) in school. Which you are normally are only allowed in school if it is class party! The second rule is that you are only permitted to bring muffins to school (which was announced in the middle of the year so most people had cakes or other treats!

My work

My work in C.I.S. didn’t start of that well. In the first few months my work was full of grammar and SP ( spelling ) mistakes. The ” Three A ” sign on every one of my works haunted me for months. My handwriting was horrific and My presentation of work wasn’t that great ether ( I always forgot to rule the pages and had trouble remembering to underline the date ). The most embarrassing part was that I could never memorize to cross my ” T ” ( in Austria you don’t cross your “T” so that was a little new to me ). Compared to my old work my new one is gold! Grammar mistakes don’t happen so often anymore, same as bad Handwriting ( because I couldn’t stand my old one, created a new one). Spelling-mistakes is the one thing I have to work on. But after all, I feel pretty confident!

Goodbye C.I.S.

C.I.S ( year six ) has been amazing, even tough this is my first year in the school, I fell like this is an unforgettable adventure, that I hope I can repeat one day. I don’t know which school I am going to join next, if it will be in Nigeria or in Austria.. But I know one thing.. ether way, it is going to be Awesome! If I am really leaving C.I.S. I will miss a lot of people, like for instance my two best friends: Darius and Adebare. I will miss a lot of teachers like: Mrs.Dosunmu and Mrs.Luxmoore. But of course the whole school itself! I have learned a lot this year (far more than my friends in Austria!) and I am ready to use my new knowledge for the next year! If I am going to an Austrian or Nigerian school!
