George Elser- A story of a HERO

George Elser was born in January 4th 1903, in Germany. He died in 9 April 1945. Known by his attempt to murded Hitler.

When he finished school, he started working as a woodworker.

In a clocks factory, he met a woman and they had a child. They decided  to not get marry so he came back to his parents’ house. He started working in another factory, in this factory he discovered a little bit about the Nazi army. after Munich (מינכן) agreement, George was convinced that there is going to be a war. He thought that only Hitler’s murder will avoid this war.

George was planning the murder for Exactly a year. On November 8th 1938, he attended an event in Munich were Hitler made a speech. He used to speak there. George decided it would provide the perfect opportunity to implement his plan. He decided to put a bomb under the pulpit in the hall. He studied Hitler’s habits for one year: when he gets to the hall, when he starts speaking, when he leaves the place, and so on…

Exactly on the day that Gorge had set the bomb, November 8th 1939, Hitler cut his speech from the planned two hours to one hour. He also started it on a different time. Hitler had ended his speech for the audience of the party faithfuls at 9:07 p.m., 13 minutes before Elser’s bomb exploded. By that time, Hitler had left the place. Then the bomb exploded. About 120 people were still in the hall at the time. Seven were killed.

George was caught half an hour after the bomb exploded. At first, the police didn’t think that it was a murder trial, and George didn’t admit it was him, but an officer saw he’s injured knees and realized that the only way to put the bomb was to crawl down on the knees. The servant at the near bar said that she saw him at the same day. At the end George admitted that he tried to kill Hitler alone.

George was sent to a concentration camp called “dachu” (דכאו). He was killed by the Nazis, by a shot- a, month before the camp was released.

There is theory that tells, that George was a part of the SS, and the goal of this murder trial was to show that no one can kill Hitler, because Hitler is a ‘god’.

George Elser wasn’t known among the German society. only at the early 90′ he became known and recognited as a brave Nazi opposer.

George Elser was Monetized in many ways and places as:

– On the wall at a school was initiated a statue that light the “November 8th”  1 minute ceremony every day at the hour of 21:20, the hour when the bomb that Elser put in the beer cellar exploded.

– In the 90′- the city he studied at, a school and a research were called After his name.

– Many organizations that opposite to the nazism were established after his name.

– 100 years after his birth- A new German stamp after his name was .

– There are at least 60 streets and places named after Elser in Germany and several monuments.

what would have happened if Hitler would be killed as a result of George Elser’s trial?

There is a theory, on of many, that tells Hitler, and many others as Heinrich Heimlich would have been killed. Maybe millions of people would not be killed.
