Attack on titan is an anime and manga series who written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama.
The series began on September 9th 2009, but the series hisself aired just on April 7th 2013.
The Anime  have two seasons right now.
The first one has twenty five episodes and the second season (that aired after a long break of 4 after the first season aired) have 12 episodes. (37 in total).
And there’s more 4 ovas (ova- special episodes)
So far the plot of the series  is more progressive  in the Manga because the Manga has 101 chapters right now.

A summary for the series: About 1600 years ago an enemies of the humans appeared- some huge creatures who have an abilities of heal themselves and they feeding from humans’s meat, they constituted a danger to the humanity. They’re called ‘Titans’ by the humans. The humans who survived live inside 3 walls that their height was 50 meters. The walls protected them from the titans for 100 years, but one day on 845’s a huge special titan whose his height was 60 metters, broke one of the walls and as a result of that, the titans has constituted a danger to the humanity again

how did the series  start: Eren Jaeger lived in the town near to the broken wall, was a witness of the  incident of what happened, he escaped by one of the soliders with his stepsister Mikasa and his friend Armin. His mother was eaten by one of the titans and that what awarded in him the desire to take a ravage. Five years later Eren Mikasa and Armin decided to join to the survey crops, they met more members. From that’s point the plot of the series is continuing.
