All My Sons – Post Reading
Different ending to the play:
After Larry’s letter was reviled to everyone, Chris decided he’s turning Joe in to prison.
Mother tried to stop him from doing that but it was for nothing. Joe went to take his coat as mother stood frozen at the driveway, she couldn’t endure this much. Chris started the car and they both drove away. A long awkward silence accompanied them along the way, meanwhile, Chris was still furious with his dad. When they finally arrived at the nearby prison, where Keller should admit his actions at. Keller was about to open the car’s door when suddenly Chris stopped him, he still feels a little empathy for him, he couldn’t turn him in. Chris turn the car back and started driving home while Keller still tried to justify his actions, Chris didn’t respond.
They got home, Mother was still frozen at the driveway, crying, Ann tried to comfort her. Mother was shocked when she saw that the two came back, she hugged them both and thought Chris forgave his father and they can all continue living their life. Chris grabbed Ann’s hand and they both went inside the house, he told her to pack all of her stuff and that they’re leaving. A few minutes later, they came back, Mother didn’t realize what was going on. Chris said that he’s sorry, started the car, and drove with Ann without looking back. Thus, Chris and his parents never saw each other ever again.
