It was after the rebellion and there was a huge mess.
Hashem needed someone to clean it up without them getting stressed.
He knew exactly who this should be, אהרון’s son אלעזר.
He would flatten the firepans, with just his hands.
While this was happening, the Jews were complaining about the bad 250 men dying.
They said it was unfair and they started crying.
Hashem was upset that they didn’t trust Him, and He wanted to destroy all of them. He sent the angel of death to destroy them.
The angel of death came and was killing the Jews, אהרון took the angel by its wrist and made him stop.
He brought the angel of death to the אהל מועד to prove that Hashem and Moshe have a special relationship.
The angel stopped for good now and the Jews were saved.
Hashem wanted to let the Jews know that only the levim are able to work in the mishkan.
So He made a challenge that all of the leaders of each shevet should bring their staff to the אהל מועד.
They should write their shevet and name of their staff and put line it up.
Aharon’s staff went to the middle and the other staffs circled it.
Aharon’s staff blossoms and has flowers, buds, and almonds.
The Jews stop complaining.
The Jews are now paranoid and they want to know the rules of the mishkan.
They think that they will die if they go in the mishkan.
Soon Moshe will teach them all the rules.
