The Community of Tupper Lake

In the middle of the Adirondacks in New York, which is about 3 and a half hours North-East of Cortland, there is a little town called Tupper Lake! There is a population of 5,971, which may be small but everyone who lives there loves it. They all have different jobs that play an important part in the town.

A lot of people who live in Tupper Lake work as teachers! There are two schools, the elementary school and the high school. They teach students of all abilities, from all backgrounds. There aren’t many kids, which makes learning extra special.

Sometimes when people do bad things they get in trouble for it. That’s why we have Correctional Officers! Correctional officers supervise and keep track of the bad guys in the facility. This is the most popular job to have in Tupper Lake, and is very important to keep the town safe.

We also have people who work as laborers and freight movers! A laborer is someone who works in one of the construction trades.They help build our houses, move our groceries and supplies, and help make sure our roads are good condition! Without their hard work, we wouldn’t have the necessities we need to live.
