In the past, I used to change my clothes once I reach home from school, eat some sweets, and play in the garden with a smile on my face.

One night, I was looking up to the sky, as usual, searching for the brightest star, but suddenly, I saw a bright light, it wasn’t normal, brighter than any star I’ve ever seen. and it was the last thing I saw with those eyes.

it was a bomb.

I woke up a few weeks later, but I didn’t realize that I’m awake,
because I opened my eyes but still, didn’t see a thing

I thought that was a nightmare, i only heard a strange voice, well.. wait a minute. I recognize this voice, it’s near to my heart, but far from me, I don’t know.. it’s just too hard to explain how it felt.

I started screaming; “mom.. mom.. mom..!”

That near but far voice replied: “I’m here, your mom..”
she said it with the saddest tone ever!

I said:” I can’t see you mom”
She replied; Unfortunately, you won’t be able to see the stars again, my love, but you’re too lucky because you won’t see your loved ones getting hurt.

“I lost my leg”, she continued.. “but I’ll use the other one to walk every day so I can be with you again”

“mom, why did this happen to us?” I asked.

“dear son, war has no mercy” Something died inside as she replied.
