The nun’s priest

A very poor widow lives in a small cottage with her two daughter. She has got a cock called Chanticleer. He has got seven wives, and the loveliest of these is Pertelote.

One morning, Chanticleer wakes up and tells Pertelote he had a nightmare in which a strange animal wanted to kill and eat him.

Pertelote thinks that he had that nightmare because of an indigestion. But the cock wants to show her that dreams sometimes turn into reality, so he tells her different stories.

The same morning, Chanticleer sees a fox, that tells him he wants to hear him sing with his eyes closed. Chanticleer sings and the he is taken away by the fox.

Everyone follows the fox and wants to save the cock. Chanticleer tells the fox to say to the pursues that they will never reach him. The fox open his mouth, and the cock escapes and flies on the trees.
