Once upon time there was a little girl whose name was Sara, her father took her to learn at school in London, and he went back to work in their country India.

2

Sara’s father wanted her to learn at school in London because he wanted her to study at a good school, but Sara didn’t want. She wanted to stay with her father in India.

3

Sara’s father smiled, but he was not happy because he loved his little girl very much and he did not want to live without her. Sara’s mother was dead and Sara was his only child , so they were very good friends.

4

They arrived at Miss Minchin’s School for Girls . They went into the big hause and Miss Minchin was a tall woman in a black dress. She looked at Sara  then she gave her a very big smile.

5

“What a beautiful child!” she said to Mr. Crewe. Sara stood quietly and watched Miss Minchin. Miss Minchin thought that Sara was not  beautiful, but her fhather was so rich, and that was very important to Miss Minchin. Miss Minchin liked rich girls  because  this was good for the  school.

6

Sara’s mother was French so she spoke French well. Sara loved to read books all the time, and her father wanted her to play with other girls and have new friends. Miss Minchin told Sara’s father that Sara will be happy at her school.

7

Sara’s father stayed in London for a week. They went to the shops, and he bought many beautiful and expensive dresses for his daughter. He bought books and flowers for her room and a big doll to Miss Minchin. Miss Minchin smiled, but she said to her sister Amellica “all that money on dresses for the child of seven she looks like a little princes.”
