Amos Branes,
Amos was a master sergeant in the Attrition War.
He was buried in Tel Aviv because of the bravery that he did in the war/
Amos was born in 1957.
in 1975 he joined the israeli army, and was in the intellegence course.Amos advanced in his duties and became a key figure in the unit, so that it would not be possible to carry out a task without his participation. He stood out with his great energy and willingness to invest beyond the usual working hours. His commanders were valued as “a very good soldier, exemplary, dedicated, meticulous, responsible and efficient. With a professional knowledge, which shows motivation and a welcome initiative that gives her signals in the unit’s work.”
During his service, Amos had a malignant illness, but despite his illness, he performed best, and as his commander testified: “On Monday, May 11, 1986, Amos died at Tel Hashomer Hospital. Twenty-nine years old when he died. He was taken to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Survived by his parents, four sisters – Rachel, Carmella, Ronit and Etti and a brother – Haim.
In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the unit commander wrote: “… Amos, you were one of the good ones! Finally – we can sleep peacefully and know that the mission will be done on the best side … We have never remembered you raising a voice or raising your voice and always a smile on your lips, especially during the tough hours … You were a friend to everyone and loved by everyone. Set an example for everyone … Your hours worked not only during normal hours but beyond, and even then you were often summoned in the middle Night – and never declined … ”
After his fall, his family was given a certificate of appreciation for his service in the permanent army. His parents donated a Torah scroll in his memory to the “Tribes of Israel” synagogue of Libyan immigrants in Bnei Brak.
