It has often been used in areas such as geography, astronomy, astrology, mathematics, maritime.

The use of the astrolabe can be listed as follows::

Determining the positions of the sun, moon, planet and stars
Direction finding
Location determination
Measuring interstellar distances
Calculation of local time
Determination of prayer, fasting hours and also day-night hours
Calculating the heights of mountains
Solving some mathematical problems
