Where did they come from?
The Amish are originally from Switzerland and Germany in Europe.
Where do they live?
The Amish live in North America in 22 villages in the USA and the Ontario region of Canada.


What are their beliefs?
The Amish believe a big family is a blessing and they aspire to live a slower, more private life than the modern pace. The Amish are a traditional christian group.
How do they dress?
The men wear dark trousers with suspenders and soild-colored shirts. The women wear long dresses with long sleeves, aprons and bonnets.

How do the Amish travel around?
What transportation do they use?
when they need to, the Amish use cars but if they don’t have to they travel by horse and buggy.
How do they educate their children?
The kids attend school until 8th grade. In school they learn basic reading, writing, and math and also vocational training and Amish history.

Do the children have a choice whether to stay in the community? Can they leave the community?
Rumspringa is when Amish teens are allowed to leave the community and see the world. After that they can choose if they will or won’t return.
So, what do the Amish do for a living?
The preferred work is farming but many work in factories or self-made shops, and some work in other careers.
