Overfishing can be very devastating to the ecosystems that need fish to keep the habitat going natural. The problem is that people are going out with huge nets in the oceans and some larger lakes and bringing in tons of fish inland by the hour.

This is really bad for the population of fish and to the animals that feed on fish. The people aren’t just bringing in fish but it’s also crustaceans like, crabs, lobster and shrimp.
The main problem is that the people are bringing in the fish that aren’t old enough to reproduce or the fish are getting ready too but get netted before they have a chance to do so.

My main solution that i thought of was to create big fines for people that are bringing in way too many fish.
There would be Coast Guard officers at the marinas and harbors keeping track of the boats coming in and there would be signs about the fines all over the town and the marinas/harbors.
Another solution is that places that sell/make the big cast nets that the people use could stop selling/making them.
Or we can raise the prices of fish so not as many people can buy it so the fisherman don’t have to keep going out to get more.
In the United States, as of 2016, Only about 8% of catch limits were exceeded. This is a very good sign moving towards ending the over fishing in the U.S. The graph shows the Annual Catch Limit compared to the Catching of fish.
