                        7:00am

It was a sunny day in the Big Apple, New York City, just my daughter Brooklyn Marie Derek and me. “Daddy Daddy. Can we go see those BIG towers over there?” Brooklyn said to me as she was pointing to the Twin Towers. We hopped on the subway. “Come here Brooklyn,” I let Brooklyn sit on my lap. “So do you know anything about the Twin Towers?” Brooklyn nodded her head no.

“Well see now, the Twin Towers were built in the year of 1970. It took four whole years to build them,” I said while pointing to the big towers. A young gentleman came and sat by us. “Hello, I’m Brooklyn. What’s your name?” said Brooklyn. I’ve never seen her so outgoing to other strangers. The young man said, “Hello Brooklyn, I’m Derek, Derek Denny. “So, why are you two here in the Big Apple?”  “We are here to see the big towers.” Brooklyn and Derek sat there chatting for about 10 minutes. The train came to a stop. “Well, I guess it’s time for Derek to leave. Here I want you to have this pin.” Derek gave Brooklyn a pin that was the shape in a heart but had the black basketball lines in it. After that month we searched up Derek. It turns out he is a pro basketball player.

“Hey pumpkin, before we go to those big towers want to go to the fire station? I heard that the fireman are letting people go to see the station.”
She sighed, ”fine.”

When we arrived at the fire station a very strong but friendly fire fighter named Jax showed us around. “Is that the big red fire truck you guys drive?” asked Brooklyn.

“Yes it is. See, now when we get a call to go stop a fire we have to drive this particular kind of truck.”

“Wow!”  Brooklyn was gazing at the fire truck for the longest time.

“See, now over here we have our suits. We have to wear special suits so we don’t get hurt.”
We walked past an open window with a hose.

“Well we better get going if we want to go see those big towers. Ok say bye to Jax,” I said as I was walking out.

“Bye Jax!”
“So was that fun or what?” I asked.

“It was fun. Let’s go see the BIG towers.”

                          8:30am

“So here they are, the Twin Towers!”

“Daddy-”

“Yeah?”

“What if we can go all the way up to the top? Can we still see the people and the cars?”

I replied, “Well let’s see.”

I wanted my little darling Brooklyn to have an amazing time when we were in the Big Apple. I loved my little daughter Brooklyn. Brooklyn my sunshine. “Daddy, let’s walk up the stairs.”
“But Brooklyn, that will take forever to walk up the stairs. Brooklyn, I do NOT want to walk up 110 flights of stairs. Let’s just take the elevator.” On that day I’ve thought that I would make it out of the building alive.

When we were taking the elevator up to the very top it took about 5 minutes. That day more that 200,000 people visited the Twin Towers. “Come here Brooklyn- Look at all of those little-”

“Ants?” Brooklyn said.

I chuckled, “No cupcake, those are people. And you see that over there? Those are cars.”

All of a sudden, out of the blue I saw a jet just coming straight at the building! Then that second I knew that the jet was aiming straight  for the building. I shouted, “Brooklyn get down…NOW!” Then there was this big boom.

All I saw were tears just dripping down from my little Brooklyn’s blue eyes. I could tell that she was scared. After that moment all I could see was black smoke just filling the room. In a heartbeat I ripped off my jacket and I put it to Brooklyn’s face.

13

I started to carry her down the stairs. I saw firefighters just come shooting up the stairs like they were running away from their boss. ”Let’s go boys. Hustle it up!” ”Jax!” shouted Brooklyn.

Brooklyn jumped out of my arms. She was running to Jax. I screamed, “BROOKLYN!!!”

She glanced at me, then a piece of metal crushed her little body. I ran to go lift the piece up, but she wasn’t breathing anymore. A wet tear came down from my cheek. I was carrying her body down the flights of stairs hoping that someone would save her. But it was too late.

14

I gave her to a paramedic then I ran to go upstairs to go and save people. I saw a man with explosives around his waist, so that triggered me that he was one of the 19 terrorist that killed my daughter.

I started to sprint at him. I did something stupid, I pushed him down 92 flights. Should have done it? No. Was it a dumb idea? Of course it was, but it was worth it. He took my daughter, my daughter Brooklyn.

I was very proud that I was able to save people’s lives. However I was devastated about losing my daughter Brooklyn.  Brooklyn, no matter what I’ll always be with you.

The Next Day

“Is the guardian of Brooklyn present?” questioned the nurse. I stood up and asked, “Is she O.K.? Please tell me that she’s O.K.” “Just come.” I followed the nurse to room 22B. I saw my little Brooklyn laying there, helpless. I kneeled down by the side of her adjustable bed. ”Pumpkin? Brooklyn? Come on Brooklyn. Please don’t leave me alone baby.” I said frantically. I started to sing her favorite lullaby. I began to cry.

16

I heard a moan. I looked back at my Brooklyn and I saw her eyes open. “Baby, Baby! You’re alive! Brooklyn Brooklyn. Everything is going to be fine.” I said while kissing her on the cheek. She asked, What happened?”

“There was a savagery attack and you got hurt.”

“Nurse, go get the doctor! Tell him that my Brooklyn is O.K.”

I saw the doctor come in. “Doctor. She is fine.” I said proudly.

“She has a very bad damaged leg. We are going to have to do 3 different surgeries on her left leg.” Informed the doctor. “I’m staying here until Brooklyn is O.K.”

1 Month Later

 “Brooklyn?”

“Yeah, daddy?”

“Let’s go home now. I love you always pumpkin.” I said to Brooklyn.

“I love you too daddy.”
