Description of the project

To have a better undertanding of today’s world and the requirements of future’s world, we have to know the meaning of human actions from past to present. In this project, we would like to examine improvements, developments and changes of human actions in different fields from education to communication and transportation. As Hannah Arendt, a German-born American thinker, says ‘ It is the actions of people that make up the human world.’, we agreed to implement activities about human actions from past to present.
We expect our students to develop 21st century skills such as learning skills, literacy skills and life skills while implementing the activities. We also expect them to develop key competences like digital and technology-based competences, learn to learn, sense of intiative and communicating in a foreign language throughout the project.

Aim of the project

The aim of the project is to study the developments, improvements and changes of human actions from past to present to have a better understanding of today’s world and the requirements of future’s world.
We aim to help our students develop 21st century skills. Our students will be able to develop their critical thinking skills while implementing the activities about human actions from past to present. They will also improve their creativity and collaboration skills while doing the activities with their peers. Their information, media, and technology literacy will improve as they will use web 2.0 tools to carry out the tasks. On the other side, this project is the best platform for our students to improve their communication and initiative skills as the language of the project is English and they will carry out the activities both individually and in a mixed country team. Our project will enable students to improve key competences such as learning to learn and digital competence.

Work process of the project

First of all, we will hold an online meeting with all partner schools to decide which activities we are going to implement, to agree on distribution of the task and to agree on the project rules. Then we will decide together how frequently we are going to apply the tasks. We are planning start the project in September and finish it in January.
We would like to involve our pupils to the project with the help of Homepage and Forums on Twinspace. All activities will be carried out by students and the teachers will be mentor for them. All students will be involved to the surveys throughout the project. We are also going to create mixed country teams containing pupils from different schools in order to do activities about human actions in different fields such as education, communication, transportation and so on.

Expected results of the project

We expect our students to have a better understanding of today’s world via human actions from past to present.
We expect our students to develop 21st century skills and improve key competences with the help of co-works and the final product of the project. Co-works and the final product will be decided by all of the members in the project.
We aim to help our students experience a project based learning related to the curriculum with the help of the activities of the project.

No direct threats, bullying nor harassment
eTwinning does not tolerate bullying or harassment. If you are victim of cyberbullying or someone is threatening you while using any of the eTwinning spaces (public and private ones), please report the message or contact your Support Service. Intellectual property
Ensure that the content you upload to the platform does not infringe any copyright. Before sharing pictures, videos, documents or any other resources, please make sure you have the right to do so.

The eTwinning platform cannot host videos – you will need to upload your video to YouTube, DailyMotion or Vimeo first and then paste the link in eTwinning. Do not forget to have a look at their copyright policies too.

NETIQUETTE

eTwinners should conduct their online interactions professionally, politely, and respectfully as they would do in their real-life interactions. Below are some examples of what users should and should not do.

Careful and responsible use of the internal message system

Avoid spamming in forums
The eTwinning Live partner forums generate thousands of messages. Make sure that your message considers the subject of the thread. Before publishing a new post, check to see if there are other relevant messages on the subject and reply to them. Help us keep the forums relevant to improve collaboration!

Only post relevant and appropriate comments on people’s posts
When posting a comment on somebody else’s profile, make sure it is relevant to the user. Comments must be for individuals and related to the user’s post. Do not write the same comment to more users.

Avoid random contact requests and project invitations
Avoid asking eTwinners to be part of your contacts or to join your project without any previous communication. Make sure you have a reasonable and manageable number of contacts in your list. Do you want to keep track of someone’s updates? Follow them instead.

Targeted events invitation
Avoid inviting your contacts to events you are organising, unless you are certain that these colleagues can participate. Random invitation to events organised in your school will be considered spam.

DEVELOPMENTS AND IMPROVEMENTS IN SCHOOL / Writtenby Medine from Bursa Boy’s High School

Education has always been the basic structure of states and has developed in all ages. These developments are aimed at facilitating the school life of the students and providing comfort. Traditional education methods have been left behind and a form of education has been adopted that is intertwined with technology. In the traditional understanding of education, students who study in a school surrounded by four walls, a chalkboard and a chalkboard continue their education in schools equipped with the requirements of the information age today.

Instead of chalkboards, smart boards have been introduced and internet access has been provided in schools with these smart boards. This innovation has increased the choice of resources and materials in schools and the ease of access to them. Thanks to these smartboards, teachers can support their lessons with various resources and videos and make presentations.

In the past, students were waiting for the report card day to grades grades, but today, thanks to the e-school, students can access not only their report card grades, but also many information such as absence information and rights they have very easily with a single click.

In the old days, students had to be content with textbooks distributed by the MEB to them. Nowadays, thanks to the Eba, students can access information from various sources at any time, watch various educational videos, share their own developed projects with other students at their school. At the same time, the system can be able to present a concrete result by monitoring the student’s wisdom, skills and experience.

As technology develops, educational opportunities will also develop and increase. As the opportunities increase, transportation to education will become easier, and education and information will easily reach anywhere in the world. Healthy and knowledgeable for many ages…

Written by Ceren OZ. from Gazi Anatolian High School

I have written an essay on changes in school life. I hope you will enjoy it while reading:)
Changes in School Life
School Life has been changing for years especially since 1940s. For example, coursebooks and notebooks have replaced with tablets and laptops. Chalkboards used to be used in the classeooms in the past but we use smartboards or whiteboards in our classes now. It was not easy to reach information in the past so teachers, libraries and encylopedias were only sources of informarion. However, internet is the best and the easiest way to reach all kinds of information in today’s world, despide the disinformation on the net.
School Life will continue to change in the future. I think self education will be more popular in the future. Flipped classroom and online classes and virtual classes will also be more popular as we experiended due to the locked down on pandemic days.

DEVELOPMENTS AND IMPROVEMENTS IN SCHOOL LIFE /Ceylin KAYA Şükrü Şankaya Anatolian High School

Many things have evolved and changed in education. But I want to tell you about a few of them. If we look superficially, the educational tools, the way of education, schools have changed. But if we examine it in detail:

*There used to be chalkboards in classrooms, but nowadays there are whiteboards and smartboards. So, teachers can teach on slides, open a video about the lesson or open a pdf of our book thus we can understand the lesson more easily.

*Today in Turkey, thanks to EBA, we can access lecture videos, tests, exams, from the internet and our teachers can also give online assignments. So we can access our assignments from our phone.

*Before Covid-19, we studied face-to-face but when schools were closed because of Covid-19 we started online education. So, platforms where we can teach online have been created and it has become easier to teach online. For example, “EBA TV” channel was opened in Turkey because of Covid-19 and “Canlı Ders” was created, where we can conduct online lessons.

*There is more study on software in schools. For example, with artificial intelligence, robotic coding, electric vehicle models, 3D printers…

*Today, there are “new generation questions” in test books. Thus, we can reason about the subjects we have learned and we encounter examples from daily life.

*With the development of technology, we can prepare presentations and projects from our computer.

*We used to use encyclopedias in libraries, but now we ask our questions Google.

Written Elif KRB from Gazi Anatolian High School/ My essay on Transportation

Transportation has always had an important role in our lives from the beginning of human being to have an interaction and interconnection between people. According to the needs of human being, it needs to be developed.
İn the past, transportation used to be slower and harder. Because people were carrying their goods on their heads, their backs or run on the ground. Human being used animals to transport goods in 5000 BC. After 3000 BC, the vehicles were invented. They were made up of four wheels without an engine. Inventors invented the steam engines in 18th and steam-powered vehicles and trains. So transportaion became faster and more comfortable. Inventions of boats and planes also enabled people more efficient transportation. İn my opinion, transportation will be faster and more economical as the natural resources are limited and time and speed are very important for all of us.

Prepared by Christa.cnme and Alice.cnme

The development of transportation systems takes place in a socioeconomic context. Because of its intensive use of infrastructures, the transport sector is an important component of the economy and a common tool used for development. A relation between the quantity and quality of transport infrastructure and the level of economic development is apparent. High-density transport infrastructure and highly connected networks are commonly associated with high levels of development. When transport systems are efficient, they provide economic and social opportunities and benefits that result in positive multiplier effects such as better accessibility to markets, employment, and additional investments. When transport systems are deficient in terms of capacity or reliability, they can have an economic cost such as reduced or missed opportunities and lower quality of life.

Construction of roads, canals, and railroads led to the expansion of markets, facilitated the movement of peoples, and altered the physical landscape. The simplest means of river transport were rafts, but they were unstable, and rapids especially posed a serious danger. Real improvement, however, came with the keelboat. Two‐way river transportation came with the invention of the steamboat, or riverboat.Roads. Although road building was the earliest sign of the impending transportation revolution, it was not an important factor in economic development prior to the Civil War.

Roads throughout the country were often narrow and un‐paved, muddy in wet weather and dusty in dry. Moving freight by road was expensive and slow. Roads between towns were often neglected after the railroad arrived, and only the use of the automobile in the twentieth century created the public demand for a modern highway system.

Added by Sude K. from Bursa Boys’ High School

DEVELOPMENTS AND IMPROVEMENTS IN ENTERTAINMENT -Entertainment is an important need that has existed since the beginning of mankind.  Even in ancient times, people who met their basic needs such as food and shelter began to look for things to entertain themselves.  Thereupon, events such as banquets, music, cinema, theater, painting, literature, and sports emerged.

They enriched their entertainment areas by choosing what they wanted according to their own interests and diversifying them.  Banquet tables expanded, literature was divided into branches, music and sports genres were introduced, painting techniques increased, etc.

In addition, we cannot pass without saying that periods have contributed to these changes as much as people.  For example, the Renaissance was a period in which people achieved great progress in the field of art and science.  Polyphonic music emerged in this period;  Painters have developed different techniques that examine light, shadow and human anatomy.

If we take a closer look at our period, we can say that since the Second World War, the world has experienced a huge technological explosion that doesn’t seem to stop anytime soon, which means more platforms for people to have fun with.

And the internet!  This tool, which is the foundation of our age, offers people endless variety in the field of entertainment.  Mini supercomputers are carried in people’s pockets, more information is disseminated and recorded than ever before, and fields such as medicine do not stop developing.  The fun just got a whole lot crazier.  Music has different styles to delight listeners everywhere.  Movies captivate people with their special effects, cinematography and storytelling.  Television can be funny, important, informative or mindless.

Entertainment evolves and changes with choices.  All forms of media will continue to evolve into the future to become the people time values most.
