COVİD İLE ANLADIM… BAZI ŞEYLER OLMASA DA OLUR!!

Bir sahil kasabasıydı Güllübahçe. Hem zeytin hem ceviz üretimi yapar, deniz turizminden gelir sağlarlardı. Birinin düğünü olsun, tüm kasaba destek olur, evinin eksiğini tamamlar, bir haftayı bulan  eğlenceler yapılırdı. Cenazelerde haftalar boyunca cenaze sahibine hiç iş yaptırılmaz, yemekleri her gün biri yapardı. Mutluluk ve hüzün her zaman paylaşılırdı. Kendi içlerinde bazı kuralları vardı. Bir ailenin konumu parasına göre değil anne babalarına, çoluk çocuğuna, konu komşusuna olan davranışlarına göre belirlenirdi. Yıllar boyu bu alışkanlıkları  hiç bozulmadı. Ta ki corona salgını başlayana kadar…

Güllübahçe was a seaside town. The public both poduced olive and walnutand earned money from sea tourism. If someone was about to get married, everyone supported the couple and helped them to complete whatever was lacking. The wedding partyies lasted for week. They didn”t let people who had funeral do anything and one of the neighbours made meal for them for weeks. They always shared happiness and pain. They had some rules among themselves. The position of a familywas defined not according to how much money they had but accoording to how they behaved to their children, parents and neighbours. The habits of these people never changes during years. Until corona pandemic started.

Geçtiğimiz  yılının Aralık ayında ilk defa  haberlerde  duydular bu hastalığı. Çin’in Wuhan kentinde başlayan tehlikeli bir virüsten bahsediyordu kanallar. Anlamadıkları bazı terimlere hiç odaklanmadılar. Hasta sayılarının giderek artması, vefat sayılarına yenilerinin eklenmesi onları da üzdü. Acılarını uzaktan da olsa paylaştılar, dualar ettiler hep. O kadar uzaktaydı ki bu virüs, kapılarını bir gün çalacağı hiç kimsenin aklından  geçmemişti.

For the first time, they heard about this disease in the news in December last year. The channels were talking about a dangerous virus that started in Wuhan, China. They never focused on some terms they didn’t understand. The increasing number of patients and the number of deaths which are being added every day upset them. They shared their pain even from a distance, they always prayed. It was so far away that this virus had never come to anyone’s mind that one day it would knock on their doors.

Felaket beklenenden daha kısa sürede geldi. Kapanan okulları lokantalar, kahvehaneler , AVM’ler izledi. Sokağa çıkma yasakları ve kısıtlamalar başladı. Düğün salonları kapandı, artık hiçbir şey eskisi gibi değildi Güllübahçe’de…

Eren, 5 kardeşin en küçüğüydü. 8. sınıftaydı. Okulunda başarılıydı. Pandemiden önce, ders çıkışında mutlaka babasına yardıma giderdi, diğer kardeşleri gibi. Babası küçük bir aile lokantası  işletiyordu. Lokanta küçük olmasına karşın turistik bir yer olduğu için onları geçindirmeye  yetiyordu. Geçen yıl babannesini kaybettiklerinden beri dedeleri de onlarla birlikte kalıyordu artık.

The disaster came sooner than expected. Restaurants, cafes’ and shopping malls followed the schools that were closed. Curfews and restrictions have begun. Wedding halls were closed. Nothing was the same now in Güllübahçe …

Eren was the youngest boy of 5 siblings. He was in the 8th grade. He was successful in his school. Before the pandemic, he would absolutely go to help his father after school, like his other siblings. His father ran a small family restaurant. Although the restaurant was small, it was enough to support them as it was a touristic place. Their grandfather has been with them since they lost their grandmother last year.

Neslihan Bakal – Saray Ortaokulu

Herkes gibi, bu salgın Eren ve ailesini de etkiledi.Artan vaka sayıları yüzünden, lokantaları önce paket servise geçti ama kısa bir süre sonra lokantaları tamamen kapandı.Tek geçim kaynakları lokantaydı.Üstelik beş kardeşlerdi ve bir de dedeleri vardı.Eren’in babası  çalışıyor, ailesini geçindirmeye çalışıyordu.Eren ve kardeşleri için de zor günler başlamıştı.Okullar kapanmıştı, tüm öğrenciler canlı derslere giriyor, eğitimlerine devam ediyorlardı.Eren zaman zaman internet sıkıntısı yüzünden derslere giremiyordu ama Eren hiç pes etmedi.Sene sonunda gireceği sınavı düşünüyor, ablasından yardım alıyor, çalışmayı asla bırakmıyordu.

Like everyone, this epidemic affected Eren and his family too. Because of the increasing the number of  cases, restaurants started packet service but after a while later, restaurants closed exactly.Their unique mainstay was this restaurant.Furthermore, they were five siblings and also their grandfather with them. Eren’s father was working in a daily labours and he was trying to maintained his family.Hard days had started for Eren and his siblings too. The schools were closed, all the students were  joıning  online classes and they were going on  their educations.Sometimes  Eren couldn’t joın the onlıne classes because of the internet problem but Eren never gave up.He was thinking of the exam he will take  at the end of the term, he was getting help from his sister and he never stopped studying.

Hülya Söyleyici – Çorlu Ortaokulu

Eren Güllübahçe’nin eski neşesini o kadar arıyordu ki…Şimdi sokaklar ıssızdı. Eren artık etrafında endişeli insanlar görmeye alışmaya başlamıştı. Tek alışamadığı ablasının gözlerindeki hüzündü. Beyaz gelinliğiyle görkemli bir düğün hayal ediyordu  ablası. Nişanlıydı ve yaz tatilinde düğün planlamıştı.Şimdi ise düğün gibi organizasyonlar yasaktı. Yakın gelecekte ise belki 50 kişilik nikah merasimine izin verebilirler diye duyum vardı sadece. Bütün planlarını buna göre düzenlemeleri gerekecekti.Eren geçen yılı düşünmeye başladı. Aslında önemsemediği tenefüslerin,kantinde arkadaşlarıyla gülüşmelerinin,hatta okula gidiyor diye sızlandığı o günlerin değerini şimdi çok daha iyi anlamıştı.

He was looking for the old joy of Eren Güllübahçe so much … Now the streets were desolate. Eren was getting used to seeing anxious people around her. The only sadness in the eyes of her sister she could not get used to was. Her sister was dreaming of a magnificent wedding in her white wedding dress. She was engaged and planned a wedding for the summer break, and now events such as weddings are prohibited. In the near future, I just felt that they could allow a wedding ceremony of 50 people. They would have to adjust all their plans accordingly. Eren started thinking about the last year. In fact, he understood much better now the value of the breaks he didn’t care about, laughing with his friends in the canteen, and even those days when he complained about going to school.

Eren sadece okulda ki anları değil zamanla herşeyi özleyeceğini farketti… Çünkü her geçen gün televizyonda vaka sayılarının arttığını izliyordu…. Bu durum onu çok üzüyordu….Tekrar eski günlere ne zaman döneceğini düşünüyordu….

Ablasının düğünü için hazırlıklar başlamıştı… Yalnız düğüne gelen herkesin kurallara uyup uymayacağı ailesini endişelendiriyordu.  Bu yüzden  ailecek bazı kararlar aldılar….

Davetli kişi sayısını azaltıp, salon girişinde herkese kolonya ve maske dağıtma kararı aldılar.. Düğün salonunda yemek ikram etmeyeceklerdi yemek  için harcanacak parayı ihtiyaç sahiplerine ulaştırmaya karar verdiler…  Ablasının düğünü bu tedbirlerle gayet güzel geçmişti…. Düğün yemeği için ayrılan para   Güllübahçe’de bilinen, annesini ve babasını trafik kazasını geçiren  İbrahim’e ulaştırılmıştı…

This situation made her very sad …. She was thinking when she would return to the old days …. Preparations for her sister’s wedding had begun … It worried her family whether everyone who came to the wedding would obey the rules. That’s why they made some family decisions …. They decided to reduce the number of invited guests and distribute cologne and masks to everyone at the entrance of the hall. They would not offer food at the wedding hall. They decided to deliver the money to be spent on the meal to the needy … The wedding of his sister was very good with these measures …. Covid-19 salgını nedeniyle hayatlarını kaybeden insanlarla, yakınlarını kaybedenlerle, işleri bozulan insanlarla hayat devam ediyordu ama eskisi gibi değildi. Değişen bir şeyler vardı. Bu salgının bize öğretmeye çalıştığı bir şeyler var diye düşünmeye başladı Eren. Ablasının düğünü geçtikten sonra bunu daha çok düşünmeye başladı. Ablasının hayalindeki gibi büyük bir düğün olmadı belki ama sonuçta ablası evlenmişti. Okula gitmiyordu belki ama okul uzaktan da devam ediyordu. İnsanlar yemek yemek için lokantaya gelmiyordu ama insanların istedikleri yemekler evlere paket servisle ulaştırılıyordu. Birisi vefat ettiğinde cenaze evine çok fazla yemek götürülüyordu, bu yemekler çoğu zaman boşa gidiyordu. Pandemiden dolayı artık bu israf da son bulmuştu. Eren’in abisi evde durmayı hiç sevmiyordu. Devamlı arkadaşlarıyla vakit geçirip ailesini ihmal ediyordu ama sokağa çıkma kısıtlamalarından dolayı artık hep evdeydi ve birlikte çok güzel zaman geçirmeye başlamışlardı. Demek ki bazı şeyler olmasa da olurmuş diye düşünmeye devam etti. Hayatta olumsuz durumlarla karşılaşılsa da sağlığın, sevdiklerimizle, ailemizle birlikte olmanın her şeyden daha önemli olduğunu fark etti.

Life continued with people who lost their lives due to the Covid-19 epidemic, with those who lost their relatives, with people whose jobs were disrupted, but it was not the same as before. Something had changed. Eren began to think that there is something that this epidemic is trying to teach us. She started to think about this more after her sister’s wedding passed. Maybe it was not a big wedding as her sister had dreamed of, but eventually her older sister got married. Maybe he was not attending school, but the school continued from a distance. People did not come to the restaurant to eat, but the food people wanted was delivered to their homes by takeaway. When someone passed away, too much food was taken to the funeral home, which was wasted most of the time. Due to the pandemic, this wastage had also come to an end. Eren’s brother did not like staying at home. He was constantly spending time with his friends and neglecting his family, but he was always at home due to curfews and they started to have a great time together. So he continued to think that some things would happen even if they didn’t. She realized that despite negative situations in life, health, being with our loved ones and family is more important than anything else.

Ferda Özdemir – Mimar Sinan İmam Hatip Ortaokulu

Bir yandan düșünüp bir yandan da televizyon izleyen Eren, haberlerde okulların açılacağı haberini gördü.Hemen heyecanla annesinin yanına,mutfağa koștu ve annesine müjdeyi verdi.Heyecanını yitirmeden odasına çantasını hazırlamaya gitti. Haberin devamını dinlemeyip okulların yarın açılacağını sanan Eren, yatağına yatıp uykuya daldı.Sabah olunca annesi onu niye kaldırmadı diye sorgularken okulların 1 hafta sonra açılacağını kardeșinden ișitti.Heyecanla bir haftayı beklemek zorunda kaldı. Bir hafta sonra okula gittiğinde șașırdı çünkü 3 yıldır okula gelmeyen İbrahim bu yıl onların verdiği para yardımı ile okul formasını alıp okula gelmiști. 5.sınıftan bașlamıștı o. Eren ile İbrahim’in evleri yakın olduğundan dolayı okul yolunda tanıșarak arkadaș oldular. Arkadașlıkları ilerledikleri zamanlarda tedbirlere uymalarına rağmen Covid 19’a yakalandılar. İbrahim tek bașına karantinada kendine bakamadığı için Eren’in ailesi İbrahim’i yanına aldı ve Eren ile İbrahim karantinaya beraber girip beraber çıktılar. Karantina sonrasında kimsenin bu duruma düșmesini istemedikleri için tedbirlere uyarak köylü halkına farkındalık yaratması için bir metin hazırladılar ve bu metni köylülere okudular. Uyumlu olan köy halkı metinden sonra aydınlanıp tedbirlere daha çok dikkat ettiler. Sonucunda Güllübahçe’de bir daha Covid 19 vakasına rastlanmadı.

While thinking on the one hand and watching television on the other, Eren saw in the news that schools will open. He immediately ran to his mother, to the kitchen, and gave the good news to his mother. Without losing his enthusiasm, he went to his room to pack his bag. Eren, who did not listen to the rest of the news and thought that the schools would open tomorrow, fell asleep in her bed. In the morning, while her mother was questioning why she didn’t pick up her, she heard from her brother that the schools would open in 1 week. He had to wait excitedly for a week. When he went to school a week later, he was surprised because İbrahim, who had not been in school for 3 years, got his school uniform and came to school this year with the money they gave. He started in 5th grade. Because Eren and İbrahim’s houses were close, they met on the way to the school and became friends. Although their friends followed the precautions when they progressed, they caught Covid 19. Since İbrahim could not take care of himself in quarantine alone, Eren’s family took İbrahimi with him and Eren and İbrahim entered the quarantine together and left together. Since they did not want anyone to fall into this situation after the quarantine, they made a text to raise awareness among the peasant people and read this text to the villagers. The people of the village, who were compatible, enlightened after the text and paid more attention to the measures. As a result, no more Covid 19 cases were encountered in Güllübahçe.

Ceren Karaca – Adnan Menderes Ortaokulu

Tüm bu olanların ardından 3 ay geçmişti. Her şey yavaş yavaş normale dönmeye başlıyordu. Vaka sayıları sadece Güllübahçe’de değil memleketin dört bir yanında neredeyse yok denecek kadar azdı. İnsanlar kötü günleri artık geride bırakıp yeni hayatlarına, yeni alışkanlıklarına göre bir yaşam inşa etmeye başlamışlardı  kendilerine çünkü içten içe bildikleri ve emin oldukları bir şey vardı ki artık hiçbir şey eskisi gibi olmayacaktı. Covid 19 tüm insanlığa yeni bir pencere açmıştı. Sabrın, tedbirlerin ve umudun en karanlık günlerin bile üstesinden gelebildiğini, alışkanlıkların değişebildiğini, insanlara sarılmadan da onlara sevgimizi ifade edebileceğimizi, eğitimin okul ortamı dışında uzaktan da yapılabileceğini kısacası bazı şeylerin olmasa da olabileceğini öğretmişti. Tüm insanlık gibi Eren ve ailesi de gereken dersi almıştı.

Three months had passed after all this. Everything was slowly starting to return to normal. The number of cases was almost negligible not only in Güllübahçe but all over the country. People were starting to leave the bad days behind and build a life according to their new lives and new habits, because there was something they knew and were sure of, that nothing would be the same as before. Covid 19 opened a new window to all humanity. He taught that patience, precautions and hope can overcome even the darkest days, habits can change, we can express our love to people without embracing them, that education can be done remotely outside of the school environment, in short, some things can happen even if not. Like all humanity, Eren and her family had learned the necessary lesson.

İtalyan Even in a small mountain town that lives especially on winter tourism, there is a boy who has same dreams as Eren. Maybe one day the two boys become men will meet and join forces to create a better world
