Definition: A meme is an idea, behavior, or style that spreads from person to person within a culture and often carries symbolic meaning representing a particular event or theme.

There are many types of memes, but we will focus on the main three categories.

Memes categories:

dank meme: An image with a bit of text that mostly relates to an event that happened not long ago, or very long ago. And it can also represent a small joke that uses pop culture knowledge to fully understand.

The phrase “dank meme” emerged in 2013 on message boards within popular social medias like: Instagram, reddit, 4chan and more.

The short film/video meme:

These memes awaken nostalgia in many of the viewers from when they were younger. The video memes today are mostly abused. What I mean by “abused” is taken over, most of the meme creators make it the their job to annoy and “kill” the memes that are created before them. They create many of these memes just for a bit of fame, which crowns this meme category as the most toxic community.

Even though this category has the best memes of all.

Music meme: The music meme is exactly what it sounds like, an iconic song/rhythm that was used many times in different occasions. Most music memes begin their life from a popular song that other people remixed to sound funnier or cooler. After a while most music memes become boring and un popular, so the term for a meme which is becoming un popular is called a “dead meme”. Music memes are the fastest dyeing memes from all the categories. So there are many versions for each music meme.

Conclusion:

Memes are a fun and entertaining way to pass time on social medias, but there are some groups of people that ruin the fun. Memes today represent culture in social medias like YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and more. For example, many YouTube creators use memes and popular songs in their videos to make the audience more interested in the content in front of them, the memes make the content more fluent and “chill”. Memes are fun you should watch, read, hear all the meme formats out there.
