The story of Ruth:

The story tells about Elimelch family.

Elimelch’s family leaves the country because of the famine there.

After a few years Elimelch dead and his sons Mahlon and Kilion married to Ruth and Orpa.

Ten years later Mahlon and Kilion passed away, Ruth and Orpa became widows.

Ruth and Orpa only had the widow of Elimelch Naomy.

Naomy tells them that she think that they should go back to their country because the famine is gone.

Orpa does as Naomy says and returns to her family but Ruth insists to stay with Naomy so that she will not be left alone.

Ruth and Naomy came back to Bet Lhem, they dont have mony and food.

Naomy tells to Ruth to go Boaz field because Boaz is a relative of theirs.

Boaz sees her and tell her that she can to compile lessons as much as she wants.

Before Ruth goes, Boaz tell her that would only come to his field.

Ruth back to Naomy’s home and tell of Naomy that Boaz tell her to come only to his field because there they will not harm her.

Every day Ruth coming to the Boaz field and Naomy noticed

that Boaz love Ruth and she tell to Ruth to go to Boaz with her

dress and after he eats and drinks go under his bed.

Ruth doing that Naomy told her that she coming to Boaz she waiting for Boaz finish to eat and drink and she waiting to Boaz under his bed, Boaz is lying in his bed and he listen voice below him he ask how it and Ruth says “Ruth” and Boaz congratulations to her.

Ruth understand that Boaz love her.

Boaz wants to marry Ruth but there is a problem, According to the hibum process there is someone that is closer to Ruth and needs to marry her .
Boat doagree to give up on Ruth.
Boaz tells this anonymous that if he wants to Buy Elimelech’s field he needs to marry Ruth too. When the anonymous understands it He decided to give up the redemption of the field and Ruth because He doesn’t want to spoil his semen. Boaz called 10 elders of the city so They will hear the anonymous as he gives up the redemption of Ruth and the field.
After that Ruth and Boaz got married and Ruth became pregnant. When the baby was born Naomi and her neighbours decided to call the baby “Oved”.
After a few years Oved became king David’s grandfather.

2. We admire Ruth because of her modesty and consideration .
In this story you can see how Ruth always picks the good of the other before her self. She chose to stay with Naomi Instead of returning to her homeland and a life of wealth because she don’t want to leave Naomi alone.
You can also see how much she is sacrificing for Naomi when she goes every morning to pick barleys with all the poor peoples without being embarrassed about it because she only wants Naomi to be happy.
There is a midrash that recounts that when Ruth picks the barleys she was almost the only girl who bet respectfully and she always behaved modestly. and this are somethings that we should learn from her in our opinion.

3. In our opinion to accept the Torah is not only to learn the stories of the Torah .
Accepting the Torah is to actually Understand and apply the meaning behind these stories . Accepting the Torah it is to “accept” the messages that the Torah gives us and to use them in our daily lives.
