Chapter One: Hunger and Moav

In the days of the judges, a well-to-do and reach family lived in the Land of Israel. It was the family of Elimelech and Naomi and their two sons Mahlon and Kalion.

When hunger began in the land Elimelech decided to leave the land and moved to Moav until the situation improved.
As punishment he died and shortly later, after Mahlon and Kalion (his two sons) married Ruth and Orpah, they also died leaving no children behind.
Ten years after the move
Naomi hears that the hunger in the country has stopped and decides to go back to the country.
Orpah and Ruth insisted they want to come with her but she sadly replied that she had nothing more to give them.
Orpah was convinced, but Ruth insisted.
“Wherever you go – I will go!” She stated. “Wherever you lay – I will. your people are my people. and your God my God! As for you will die – I will die, and there I will be buried. As well God will do for me. Because death do us apart”

Chapter Two: At Home, and Adaptation
Together, Ruth and Naomi walked in silence, making their way to Israel.
When they arrived to Beth Lehem, all the people of the city were in the cemetery, exactly the wife of Boaz – the leader of the generation, died.
The residents recognized Naomi and did not recognize Ruth.
All the residents asked each other, “Is this Naomi?”
Is this woman wearing rags is Naomi who has always been dressed in beautiful clothes?
Is it Naomi who used to ride in the carriages of generations and now walks barefoot?

Naomi understood the looks and the whispers. “Don’t call me Naomi!” She said. “called me bile, because Hashem Bitter my life.

Together with Ruth, Naomi goes to her empty and abandoned house.

Chapter Three: A Charity Collection

Naomi and Ruth had no food or money. Ruth takes the initiative and tells Naomi: I will go and gather grain, that we may have something to eat.
Ruth came to the field plot that belonged to Boaz, the leader in those days.
Boaz was also a relative of hers, he noticed Ruth and her modesty and realized that she was a special woman.
Boaz understands that Ruth abandoned her father’s house in order to join the people of Israel and this impressed him greatly.
He told Ruth to come every day and after a short conversation in which she thanked him , he also invited her to join the reapers’ lunch.
When she came back home, she told her mother-in-law what had happened to her. Naomi was happy to hear that Ruth met Boaz and he treated her nicely.
Ruth spent the next few days in the Boaz field, until the wheat and barley harvest was over.

Chapter Four: Looking for a Groom

The hairy harvest is over, and the next stage was the sowing stage in which the husks and seeds are separated.
Boaz himself also went down to the field, sleeping at night in the threshing floor.
Naomi thinks about how to match Ruth and Boaz.
She tells Ruth: Take a bath, get dressed, go to the threshing floor at night, after everyone has gone to bed. Second at the feet of Boaz, and when he wakes up and sees you, he will already understand what you are looking for …
Ruth did Naomi’s words and really in the middle of the night Boaz woke up and found Ruth lying next to him.
She asked him to marry him to him.
Boaz explains to Ruth that Elimelech has a brother with a good name and that he has the right of way to marry her and love her.
He suggests they wait until the morning to see if Good is at all interested.
Early in the morning, Boaz asked Marut to return home, before people saw them. Before they break up, Boaz gives Ruth six lessons, hinting at six big boys about to come out of her seed, and she returns to the happy Naomi

Chapter Five: Better Than Nothing

In the morning, Boaz hurried and went to Tov – his uncle.

He asked him if he wanted to inherit Elimelech’s fields.
Tov answered positive.
But after Boaz told him that he must also marry Ruth he regretted it.
They made a property in front of old people and a large crowd gathered at the place.
After the exciting wedding, Ruth became pregnant and gave birth to a son who was given the name Oved. Naomi, the grandmother who suffered in her life, was finally able to be satisfied. Although Oved was not her biological granddaughter, she raised him as if he were her son.
Megilath Ruth ends a few generations later: Oved was the father of Yishai, Yishai was born David, who is David, the king of Israel.

1. We adore Ruth who steaks to Naomi.
She doesn’t give up.
She converts and immigrates to Eretz Israel even though she knows it will be difficult.
