“Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” is a 1967 song written by Bob Crewe and Bob Gaudio. It was recorded as a single by Frankie Valli. The song was among his biggest hits, earning a gold record and reaching No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 for a week, stuck behind “Windy” by the Association.^[2] Gaudio was a bandmate of Valli’s in the Four Seasons. It was Valli’s biggest solo hit until he hit No. 1 in 1975 with “My Eyes Adored You“.

How do I feel about this song?

To me this song is mostly a symbol of the pure, innocent, and classic love that was in this period of time.
The singer, Frank Valli describes a girl who is so amazing in her beauty that he feels in heaven, and feels that it is too good to be realistic for him.

The way he describes the affection for her is so beautiful to me as he manages to do it in a very gentle and yet, playful way.
In my imagination I see a gentleman man with values who knows how to appreciate a real woman. He describes her beauty in such a graceful and detailed way and of course does

not forget to mention his apology for staring at her so she will not be offended.

He asks her to know if she feels the same way about him, and promises to love her and treat her properly if she will just let him.

The song makes me think that love in the past was very simple and direct, without a lot of power games and ego.
And of course the song makes me jealous that I was not born in this period of time.
