KARADUVAR WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT

Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Mersin Water and Sewerage Administration (MESKI) General Directorate is preparing to use the treated water from the Karaduvar Wastewater Treatment Plant in industry.

With the realization of the envisaged work, the water treated at the facility will be re-evaluated in the industry, thus reducing the consumption of clean water.

Treated waters will be reused in industry

Continuing to raise awareness about the importance of water reuse in this period when the whole world started to experience water scarcity, MESKI is starting to work on the reuse of treated water from wastewater treatment plants.

Purified water from the facilities will be used as process water in enterprises within the scope of the protocols to be signed with large industrial organizations.

When the said recycling water is started to be used, the consumption of clean water used by the enterprises as process water will be stopped and the discharged water will be reused.

  MEZITLI WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT

“Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Vahap Seçer examined the Mezitli Treatment Plant and Viranşehir Pumping Station, the construction of which has been completed and counting the days for the opening. Seçer said, “We will soon inaugurate our Mezitli Wastewater Treatment Plant, equipped with the most advanced technology in Europe, in compliance with EU criteria and in working condition. We use a biological treatment system. There will be no odor problem. We will also convert the gas from this facility into electrical energy. We will use the sludge obtained from the treatment as fertilizer.”

“It has the capacity to serve a population of 550 thousand people”

“Mezitli Wastewater Treatment Plant is a biological treatment plant built on 77 decares of land, equipped with state-of-the-art technology and in compliance with European Union criteria. This facility serves the Viranşehir, Tece, Davultepe, Kuyuluk, Bozön and Çiftlikköy neighborhoods of Mezitli district. Here, the biological treatment process is carried out. It is an extremely safe place against the risk of explosion.”

“All necessary precautions have been taken. According to the current conditions, we will make an effort to cause minimal or even no disturbance to the environment. There will be no odor problem. This is a facility that can appeal to a population of 384 thousand people, but this capacity can be increased up to 550 thousand. This can be achieved with some additional investments in the coming period.”
