The Refugee Crisis
What is a refugee ?
In international law, the term “refugee” is used to describe a person who, if returned to his or her country, has a “well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular group or political opinion.

What are the consequences of migration ?
But refugees, who are over-represented in temporary employment agencies and in the most affected sectors such as the hotel and tourism industries, are bearing the brunt. They are more affected by the rise in unemployment than Germans and foreigners from the European Union, Climate refugees are expected to total 250 million people worldwide by 2050.

The difficult life in refugee camps
Living in closed camps, isolated from the rest of society, can lead to refugees becoming dependent on humanitarian aid. This severely limits their ability to regain control of their lives. It also often exacerbates the trauma already experienced as a result of the exile itself.
