That Bad Day

Once upon a time, there was a poor family with two boys and a father. 

The boys’ names were Alex and Bill.

They lived in a small house in a village, but it was enough for them.

 One night Alex made some noises from the kitchen and Bill woke up.

 Bill asked Alex, ”Where are you going?”  “I’m stressed..I’m going to the beach,” Alex replied. Alex went to the beach. 

The day after, Bill looked for Alex and didn’t find him. 

He saw his dad, Gevald, crying and stressed out.

“What happened? Did you see Alex?” Bill asked. “Your brother is gone in the sea,” Said Gevald with tears in his eyes.

Bill was very nervous and didn’t believe it

Bill tried to find his brother a lot of time- but without success. 

After seven months. 

Gevald became so sick after losing Alex.

Bill woke up in the morning and went to buy some basic ingredients for lunch and meds for his sick dad in the supermarket.

Near his house, there was a similar house and he entered this house without paying attention. 

He got into the elevator and he paused on the buttons.

 All the buttons turned on. He thought to himself, “I wish I could return to that bad day..” 

The elevator opened and he didn’t believe what he saw.

 Suddenly, he got into the past. He saw his brother kidnapped by an old stranger woman in the sea. Alex didn’t look very well.

Bill was shocked.

 He tried to find that old woman. It has been a long time and Bill didn’t find anything but he was happy that his brother was alive. 

Gevald’s condition worsened and Bill had no money already. 

He had to earn money somehow so he tried to find a job. 

Bill didn’t accept any job and was very sad. Suddenly, he got a massage.

“Congratulations! You got into the job. You will be my private cleaner. Please come tomorrow at 7:00 a.m. 

Queen Anne B.”

“What a great job!! I will be the cleaner of the queen palace!” Bill said to his dad, Gevald.

Bill woke up in the morning and got ready to go to work. 

He was very excited.

Bill entered the palace and saw the queen for the first time. He didn’t know why she was so familiar to him. 

The queen said,  “Welcome to my palace. Do you have any questions about your job?”

“No, thank you!” Bill replied. “Can I start cleaning?”

“Of course. Clean my room please,” Said Anne B. 

While Bill was cleaning the queen’s room, he saw a photo of her and remembered that she was the old woman that kidnapped Alex.

He was very angry but hopeful. He knew that if he would be closer to Anne B- he could find Alex. He wanted so badly to take revenge on her

He went to work every day and tried to get some clues..

One of those days, he forgot his coat at the palace.

He turned back to his house.

Suddenly, the queen’s stepdaughter, Sofia, knocked on his door. “Is there someone here?” she asked.

Bill opened the door. They smiled at each other. Bill asked: “Who are you?” 

Sofia said: “I’m Anne B’s stepdaughter, I came here to give you your coat. You forgot it at my house.”

“Thanks! I heard really good things about you,” Bill said with a smile, “Come in please, we are eating a meal.”

Sofia said, “Ok, I hope I don’t interrupt”

 Bill, Gevald and Sofia ate dinner and enjoyed themselves.

There were some eggs and pieces of dry bread. Sofia wasn’t a spoiled girl so she liked it.

Bill had some money from his job 

After dinner, Bill asked Sofia, “Do you want to go to the new movie?”

“I’d like to! See you tomorrow.״ Sofia replied with a big smile.

Bill closed the door and was so happy.

Bill woke up in the morning and went to work. He was so excited about the meeting with Sofia. In the evening, he called Sofia and told her that he was waiting for her.

They watched the movie and were very happy.

“What a good movie!” Said Sofia. Bill agreed.

“I want to say something,” Bill said nervously.

“I love you.” They said at the same time..

“But we can’t be a couple…” said Bill. “Your mom did a lot of trouble for our family. My brother was kidnapped by her.”

“I’m sorry” said Sofia “I hate my stepmother, she behaves frightfully and doesn’t care about me at all. All she wants it’s the royal status and the money.” But anyway, I will rescue your brother”

 Bill was so happy and said: “Thank you so much, Sofia. I love you! Let’s try to find my brother tomorrow, ok?”
“Ok, don’t worry about it.” Sofia answered with a big smile on her face.

On the next day, Bill went to work and met Sofia. They couldn’t hide their emotions.

They started to look for some clues to find Alex.

“Do you have any idea?” asked Bill.

“Actually, yes. I saw my mom press on the buttons of our safe box a few days ago.” Sofia said.

 Sofia and Bill went to check it and suddenly they heard the noise of Anne B’s shoes.

“What do you do here?.. together?” asked Anne B angrily.

They were so nervous and didn’t know what to say. Sofia answered,  “I just wanted to show him that door, because it’s really dirty”

“Well, I have some things to do, Bill, please clean the door, so that the lady will not complain.” Anne B replied

They were saved. Bill thanked Sofia.

Sofia and Bill entered the room and found the safe box.

“It’s here, Bill! I hope that is what we are looking for.” Said Sofia.

“Ok.. what is the code?” Bill asked

“I don’t know. We need to guess.” Sofia replied, “Maybe it’s my birthday?”

She clicked on the buttons. 19.4.2000

“Oh, I was born in 2000 too.” Bill mentioned. Sofia smiled.

The safe box didn’t open.

“It was clear, I didn’t even have to try,” Sofia said in a low voice

“Please don’t be sad, it makes me sad too”

Sofia and Bill continued to figure out the code.
“Maybe Anne B’s birthday? Let’s try”  “12.4.1971. This is her birthday,” Sofia said

The safe box opened. They were so happy.

“What Anne B the queen loves the most? Herself” Sofia thought

There was a key inside the safe box.

“I think that is a key to our basement door!” Sofia said excitedly.

“Let’s go!” Bill replied.

Sofia and Bill went to the basement and tried to open the door.

 The door opened and they didn’t believe what they saw.
Anne B screamed at Alex. Alex looked so sad until he saw his brother.

Bill took Alex and Sofia locked her mother very quickly.

The excitement on Alex’s and Bill’s faces was clear. They hugged each other and were so happy.

Sofia sent her mother to jail.

Bill and Sofia lived in happiness and richness until this day.
