Dear diary,

I just came back from the war; I’m feeling anxious and worried. I’m excited to come home but my brother Larry won’t be coming home with me. It seems like the world likes to laugh on my behalf, seems like everything is against me and everything I come close to rots.

War makes you see things you could never forget. Army bootcamp trains you how to be a great soldier but they don’t teach you the mental after math of seeing what I saw. I witnessed other troops in my platoon getting killed there right on the spot, helpless. It really makes you think, people you’ve depended on, you fought together for your life, for a joint cause. How can you keep on surviving after they are gone, when you couldn’t have helped them, even if you wanted to.

But now I’m coming home with a mixed bag of emotions, guilt, sadness, loneliness but also hope, I hope that someday I would learn to cope with the things I saw.

Good Night.
