A chance at a happy ending

My story began a little over 21 years ago,
It was August 9th 2000. The day I was born.
My biological mother gave birth to me, and I never saw her again.
When I was just a few days old, I was taken to an adoption center, where I had a nanny and a lot more babies to keep me company.
I grew up passing from one foster family to another, I always ended up back in the adoption
facility.

When I was about 6 years old, I found my family, or more specifically, they found me. The
moment I saw them I felt this overwhelming feeling, as if this family is actually going to be it.
They wanted to see me, to talk to me, they actually made me feel wanted and important for the first time in my life.
They signed all of the needed papers and we were good to go.
3
We went home, they showed me around and I loved it. Everything seemed perfect, more than I could ever ask for.
There was a young girl in the family, she was exactly my age. Even our birthdays were just a few days apart so we always celebrated together.
I was genuinely happy.

Several years past very fast and we were 13 already.
We were best friends, we were inseparable. She was very beautiful, only by looking in her eyes, you could tell that she wasn’t the “regular” type of a girl.
she was kind ,sweet and loyal.
We always knew that we weren’t just the typical brother and sister, we always had a sort of weird tension between us.
we could never understand where it came from.

A few more years went by, we were 18.
As the time passed by, I started to realize I loved her. Not in a sister kind of way, but actually had feelings for her.
At first I didn’t tell her anything, we’re family, it’s weird.
I kept telling myself that it would pass, but it didn’t.
7
A few more days went by and I finally decided to talk to her.
We confessed our feelings for each other and were really happy.
We decided it’s time to tell our parents how we really felt.
8
As we were speaking to them, I suggested that I would start looking for my real mother, maybe even move out, but still be with HER.
I was scared of our parents’ reaction, after all, it’s not something you hear every day.
For my surprise, they were fine with it.
Me and my “sister” weren’t blood related, so technically it was fine for us to date.

A year passed by, I found my mom.
We met for lunch at my favorite place and had the longest talk ever.
I didn’t hate her for abandoning me, I could never, especially after she told me what happened. It broke my heart to know what she was going through when she had me.

Today is my wedding day and I couldn’t be happier.
This is just a reminder that everybody deserves a chance at a happy ending.
