Forms of Precipitation

One form of precipitation is rain. Rain falls to the surface of the Earth as water droplets.

Another form of precipitation is snow. Snow falls to the ground in the form of ice crystals.

Sleet is also a form of precipitation. Sleet is rain that falls from clouds but freezes before it reaches the ground. Sleet is like freezing rain.

A fourth form of precipitation is hail. Hail forms in cold storm clouds Hail falls as stones of solid ice.
